This will prove to be very expensive for Samsung.

@AbbyGreenhill No, but it will still make a mess of their profits.

@Asylum The company will offer a free, in-home repair to reinforce the affected washer’s top, a rebate to be applied towards the purchase of a new washing machine --of any brand -– or a full refund for those who bought the machine within the past 30 days. If people opt for the in-home repair that's a lot cheaper for Samsung - they are only giving full refund on units only 30 days old.

It seems that Samsung has a lot of problems recently. I have a Bauknecht and it's not even young.

@AbbyGreenhill We bought the Bauknecht 17 years ago when we bought the house, both washer and dryer, for the moment no problems at all. The refrigerator is a Bosch, we mainly have German appliances here in Switzerland.

@LadyDuck If we had built a home like we planned, I had all Bosch appliances picked out. I have had Bosch dishwashers installed in the last two homes we had, plus one we did a Bosch stove. This house had all Kitchen Aid, which was my second choice anyway.

@Jessicalynnt It sure is, but not as scary as the airbags that explode and send metal into your body.

I saw this on the news last night, did you see the damage it did to the people standing near when it blew? It looked like a law suit to me.

@AbbyGreenhill ......That's not good. They were where I was going to go for a cell phone when I decided to get one. Now I am not so sure. And now this with washing machines.

We only bought Samsung when we did because it was a special sale - instead of $400 each the set was $400....couldn't pass that up.

Doesn't it almost sound like a 'set up' to you? It seems so odd that many of their products are having issues.

set up - no I don't think anyone wants to see washers blowing up and hurting people or phones catching fire.
