Election Day

Despite the two idiots running for office, there seems to be lots of folks proclaiming excitement about today. I'm not one of them. No matter the outcome I believe 2016 will be looked back upon as one of our nation's low points. The good news is that, by and large, our people have persevered despite Washington's leadership and not because of it. I'm going to wear my "I Voted" sticker today...but it isn't anything I'll brag about. Regardless of who you support, please get out and vote today!

It's either going to be a landslide and the election will be determined early, or it's going to be tight and it will go long into the night. Either way, I plan on doing something fun tonight to take the distraction away of sulking in front of the tv watching with anxiety as the night unfolds.

@moffittjc Our Canadian family will be watching the American election night as we always do. It has been a very nasty campaign and we are glad that it will be over tonight, but will it really be over?

@moffittjc Well, you're more than willing to come visit and stay with us, so long as you don't mind a crazy life, and three young kids, who like to run around, play, and be kids.

@dodo19 i'm used to living the crazy life, and I have two kids of my own! So, I know how the life of a parent can be, and it won't be any bother to me at all! If you want, I'll even babysit the kids!

Well, if it doesn't work out for us, I'm going to come live with you in Montreal! I'm real neat and tidy, and I promise to help out with all the chores around the house!

I agree, voting is important and I am excited, because the phone calls will cease and when it is over, there will be less political talk, which I cna't stand.

@moffittjc No, in my experience, the "do not call" list does not include political calls. However, it is over now...

@Carmelanirel2 You are correct...I haven't had a single phone call all day from these political supporters and scammers! Which I'm kind of disappointed...shouldn't they be calling me to THANK me for my support? LOL

I find it interesting that--even though my phone number is on the national do not call list--it has been blowing up with phone calls today. Which I presume are election volunteers trying to pressure me into voting for their candidate. I wouldn't know, because I didn't answer a single one of those calls today. I guess the national do not call list doesn't apply to political candidates.

It must be quite dispiriting to think that there are only the two options.

@moffittjc I am only aware of 4 options, who is the 5th one?

Well, technically we have five options, but our two ruling parties have such a lock on power that any "outside" party candidates have zero chance of winning. But even so, even the other three candidates are bozos. I find it hard to accept that in a nation of 320 million people, these are the best five candidates we could come up with.

@moffittjc I'm afraid that is what we get when we continue to allow nonsense and big bucks in politics.

@moffittjc I didn't even stay up to watch the last General Election we had here. Just heard the damning exit poll and went off to bed in a state of depression. Woke up even more depressed because things were even worse than the poll had predicted.

@5thHouse I've always kept the belief that, no matter who wins or loses an election, life goes on. Our countries are great not because of who holds power in government, but because of the common citizen who works hard and tirelessly to make the world a better place. We live in great nations because we, the people, make them great nations. Not because of our governments. Always keep this in mind!

I understand exactly what you mean. This is not a case of voting for who you want as President but more a case of voting for the lesser of two evils.

You may not like either of the candidates, but one of them isn't an idiot. Far too educated and successful for that label. But I do get your point. One side has smeared the smart person so much that some of the "stuff" had hidden the truth.

I don't doubt that both of them are smart, because neither would be where they are today if they weren't smart. I just don't like either of their morals and ethics, and the tactics they used in the campaign.

I took advantage of early voting and voted last week, but I wore my sticker today, because a couple of local businesses were giving away free food or drinks to everyone who that their "I Voted" sticker on! So, something good actually did come out of this election...I got free stuff! LOL

The most surprising thing to me about this election cycle would be that the American people are no longer seemingly happy with the status quo. We are sick of career politicians. In our county, early voting was the highest ever and beat the last election cycle by 45% coming out to make their voice heard. Hope that will be the trend throughout the nation today. Have a blessed day

We had the highest early voting turnout ever in our city as well! Forty-five percent of the eligible voters in our county voted early! Pretty cool that so many people are turning out to vote!
