We've Got This!

There is a lot of raw emotion in America this morning. This was a tough election, and no matter what the outcome proved to be, it was a very conscientious time for Americans. People are taking to social media this morning to express their disappointment, frustrations, anger and fears. And rightfully so. This pressure has been building to a crescendo for well over a year. And it's time to let it all out. Get it all off our chests, so to speak. But never fear Americans, for we are a great nation! A great nation because of its PEOPLE, not because of who our president is. We've got this, America! We will persevere, we will overcome, we will rise to the challenge! That's what Americans do. We are better than our government! We are a nation of good, hard-working and decent people! People who care for each other; people who are accepting and welcoming; people who accept and welcome diversity. Just because of who did or didn't get elected last night, isn't going to change who we are as a nation! We are going to look adversity straight in the eye, and we're going to to say, "No problem, we got this!" It's going to be okay! Now, let's go out there and make good things happen in our neighborhoods, our cities, our states, and our country!

I thought that Americans had no sense of humour, then they prove me wrong in style by electing Trump.

@ElizabethWallace Chump would be an appropriate codename.

I still have one. My sister and I text each other every night. We won't use his name, we've developed a code word for him. It's pretty funny.

As always and forever-God is truly the one in control. =) God's will was done and we should strive to be more like Him. I think everything will be fine.

Everything has a chance to work itself out if we quit hating each other and blaming each other for everything that goes wrong, and instead find a way to create a mature dialogue so that we can work together to find workable solutions to our countries problems and issues. The problems certainly aren't going to go away on their own, we have to rise to the challenge to overcome the obstacles.

I am depending on Congress to keep Trump in check. If not, there's always the Supreme Court. We have a system of checks and balances for a reason!

@moffittjc Well, don't count on the Republican Congress or Republican Senate or the tied Supreme Court (and then stuffed with Trump appointees). I'm worried.

I won't be able to watch or read the news for the next four years. Not much of a loss.

@ElizabethWallace But do you have to put on the news in the background for company? Could you put on a game show, or a soap opera, instead?

@moffittjc You don't live alone. The news in the background is company while puttering around the house for people who live alone. But today was much easier to get through without seeing you know who.

Well...most will get on with their lives. Some will just not let this election go, and will spend the next four years trying to prove the Trump supporters wrong, and finding fault in every single decision Trump makes. Me, I've got too much more important stuff to do in my life, like raise my family, volunteer in my community, and make life better for everyone I come in contact with!

@ElizabethWallace Well, considering I don't like Communists or Unions, I would have been in the group hunting them down! LOL Haha, just kidding, I wouldn't have been hunting them down. But I seriously don't like Communists though.

I agree. I strongly believe when the divisive smoke clears this will spark people to get really involved in their communities, in various forms. Also, Democrats and Republicans know they better get their business in order because in four years someone has to be a lot better than they are right now.

Excuse me, but people are represented by their president. ThatĀ“s what the US is in the eyes of the world now. President Trump. I did not elected him. You, americans, did it. How will you overcome this? You killed Martin Luther King Jr. years ago. And President Kennedy. And Abraham Lincoln. Decent people get together before an election and vote in mass for someone better.

We did. She won the popular vote. We need to get rid of the electoral system. This is twice in my lifetime that the will of the people did not prevail.

@ElizabethWallace Up until yesterday, I would have agreed with you 100%. But last night, I watched a video that described exactly why our founding fathers put an electoral college system in place. Once it was thoroughly explained to me, it made absolute sense as to why we have that system. It may not be the most perfect system, but it is doing what it was designed to do...keep any one political party from monopolizing power indefinitely.

@ElizabethWallace A pity. But many times it is not easy to get rid of a system. In PinochetĀ“s time they wrote again the chilean Constitution and we still have big problems with that.

Great positive thinking regardless. Past ten months has made People here get together too after enduring hours of unrest caused by those reality political programs they have had on over here. A few Americans that live here or work here have given their own view of it all too.

I know we all have our own views of how our government should be run, but we must not let politics divide us as a nation. We, the people, must all work together for the good of the nation, regardless of who is in power at the time.

@ElizabethWallace Whether we like the word or not, our POTUS is one of the most powerful persons in the world. I don't think it's power we should fear, but abuse of power.

@vandana7 There's no tears coming out of my eyes! I don't let my emotional well-being be dictated by whichever person is elected to office. My life is going to go on as normal whether it is Trump elected as our president, or Hillary elected as our president.

Trump is a shrewd business man. He is going to befriend anybody that helps him get what he wants, whether that person is friend or foe. I don't like Trump, but I'm going to give him a chance as our President. He at least deserves a chance to prove himself.
