Election 2016 - My Thoughts

I was not surprised by the outcome. I have felt or the past several months that Donald Trump would be the next president. I will say I did not vote for him, neither did I vote for Hillary Clinton. I could not in good conscience do so. I did vote third party. As I watched and listened to the election all day yesterday and far into the night, going to bed as I found out just a few minutes ago just minutes from the final call of the electoral votes, I did hope that Donald Trump would win the election. Why? When I didn't vote for him. I did not like Hillary. I did not like what she stood for. I did not like her as first lady. I simply do not like the woman, so when I saw Donald Trumps numbers climb and far outdistance hers as they did a couple times and finally at the end, I was relieved. Now to my thoughts regarding this election and what I expect going forward. One thing I did not hear once in all this campaign were promises by Donald Trump about what he was going to do for America. Instead, what I heard were intentions. Intentions are not promises. It is what he intends to do and hopes to succeed at doing to bring this country together to make this country great again. In all other elections we've heard promises and then we tore the president and those who took office, apart for not keeping their promises. We cannot do that with this president elect. He didn't make any promises, he made intentions and that is a huge difference at the outset of his presidency. I believe he will make the best effort he can to get the economy strong, to make America strong on every front - first for America and then the world. His goal is peace with the nations, not war. That is his intention. His goal is to build America up, not tear it down, by building jobs and putting Americans to work. That is his intention. It is not his promise, but he intends to work in every area that will make this country what it hasn't been in far too long. And he intends to unite a broken country, a country that has stood on either side of the fence pointing fingers of hate and discontent at the other. His intention is to mend the wounds, fix what is broken, and bring people together as they haven't been in a very long time. If President Elect Trump can accomplish his intentions, he will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had. What he will not go down as is a president who couldn't keep his promises. So now, regardless of what side you were on in this election, we the people have voted and we the people must now get behind our newly elected president and first of all pray for him that all his intentions see fulfillment and we will be great again. It's time to take America's name out of the mud, clean it off and walk with heads lifted high proud of the country we call home. God bless America. Thanks for reading.

I am praying that God will continue to protect Trump and his family and Mike Pence and his family. And, I am praying Trump will make the right decisions and be a great President.

That would be great if it will happen. I don't see it, but with Clinton in office it would have been far worse. So in my opinion, he is the lesser of two evils. I just hope it all works out. The only thing we can all do now is pray for him and our country.

It is time to put America first and quit giving aid to foreign countries when we have homeless and children gooing hungry in our own country.

A thought occurs to me, and I hope I can express it clearly and correctly. The thought is that as Christians we may never all unite behind one candidate, as that may pose the risk of putting the worldly leader above Christ the King. HOWEVER as Christians we are to 'render unto Caesar' that which is Caesar's and unto God the things of God. God has put leaders over us. Like you, I did not vote the major party, I did not feel in my heart to support either. I will, now that the election is over, pray for our leaders and know that God is still in control.

I quite understand the disappointments of the many American voters who voted for clinton but got thrashed out by Trump. There must be something great in this man who is politically novice as compared to clinton a seasoned politician to be able to claim the throne in the white house. But yes, God is still above all who command absolute power over humakinds. Maybe its in God's plan that someone of lesser political sins rule the nation so peace could reign in all the troubled lands.

@GardenGerty We are commanded to do so - to pray for our leaders - 2 Timothy 2:1. If not 2 Timothy then it is first. When we pray for them we won't have time to bash them.

@just4him Voting third party was a wise move on your part assuming you're in a 5% minority to do so. Why? I learned last night through this video: that third party getting 5%, they get 10 million dollars to fund their next campaign, which mean more exposure. If I had've known that I would've voted third party too. And while Trump's words were filled with intentions rather than "empty promises," I'm not certain we'll have a pleasant four years. After sixteen years of this "we promise to stimulate this country," I'm not convinced by Trump's intentions, especially given how the Senate are with their slothful nature and constant bickering. I predict we'll get eight more years of what we got with Bush:"Republican acting like big shots and Democrats trying to play the helpless card, acting like they don't have a say. I grew weary of that game, and I grew weary of the nonsense we went through in Obama's tenure. So now I'mma just carry on with my life and see how this plays out. America made a mistake in making Clinton and Trump our nominees, and now that Trump i.e. the lesser evil with his lack of subtlety has won, whelp I've gotta see what consequences are reaped from this.
THIS IS MY LAST POLITICAL VIDEO, I PROMISE! K? I SWEAR Can Hillary Clinton hold on to her lead and go to war with Russia? Can Donald Trump pip ahead and fina...

@Hanyouyomi I agree with you. The fallout on this election could be disastrous, but really, could it be worse than what we just went through with Obama? I know a lot of what I know about the last 8 years is hearsay, but I've also seen a lot too. His Obamacare act is a joke and I hope Trump does something to get rid of it and give us an alternative everyone can literally live with. I didn't know third parties benefited from the number of votes cast their way. That's nice to know. I just might be voting third party again in four years.

I had begun to feel like he had a chance to win the election. I think it sad that Clinton might have made it if people hadn't voted third party. I hope he will make an effort to actually help this country and not himself. We will just have to wait and see.

I personally do not like trump. I find him to be too self-centered and egotistical. He does not stand for the people one bit. He is all about himself. America was already great, we didn't need him to make it great. I think it would be great without him. But he won. Unfortunately. We have to deal with it now. All immigrants should be afraid now as well as all women. Remember, he hates immigrants and he hates women. We elected an orange haired Hitler for president. Also, Putin congratulated him before Hillary conceded. And they had a big party in Russia. What does that say about trump. There is something sneaky with him and Putin. I feel it in my bones. Also, now, a third world war is almost a safe bet. And that will be the end of things as we know it. I for one am not happy. I will never support the new president and I will never respect america again after what they did. The NY Daily news had it right. They said, Now we see just how racist america really is. I will leave it at that.

@just4him Well, I don't see how the country could band together anymore. Not after that disaster. This is now a county divided. And will remain that way. Hopefully there will be a country in the next four years. But I don't see that happening. I see extremely bad things happening going forward. Unless he is eliminated some how.

No disrespect to you--as I value your opinions--but what is wrong with Trump and Putin being buddies? Isn't it about time that Russia and the USA become friends and partners, instead of enemies? I don't like Putin one bit, but if he and Trump can see eye to eye on things, maybe this will help avoid WW3? Maybe our two countries can actually work together to bring peace or stability to the world? Who knows...it may not happen, but I think it's at least worth a try

I didn't vote for him. I'm not in favor of him. But I do hope things go right and not wrong. America made a lot of accusations regarding President Obama and his stand with Africa when he was first elected. I would like to see this country working together and put all our differences aside. I have one great fear regarding all this, but I will not voice it, I will pray that I'm wrong.

I've been reading and watching his speeches, it was a bit similar to Duterte's only that ours here is a leftist. I fear it could suffer people here who worked in the Call centers. But I guess America needs healing on their own economy and society. But I think it's going to another trouble with the Oligarchs over there who support the other candidate.

Now this is one of the best political posts I have ever read. Not that I read many, because they are usually full of bias and contempt and I rarely get past the first sentence. I read yours the whole way through. You have hit the nail on the head. However, President Elect Trump can not make America great again alone. We must all support him, and work with him to accomplish this. Unlike you, I was totally surprised that he won. I myself, did not vote. I never have. But I listened to people, and it seemed that not many wanted to vote for him. I did listen to his post decision speech, and I thought he was extremely professional, and the nastiness and bitterness was gone. He didn't get up there and sing praises to himself, but rather included us as Americans in how we will make it great again. I sighed a big sigh of relief.

We also feel that people of USA should back the new President Elect that is Mr. Trump. He is from a non political background and seems to be a dynamic person. He is expected to bring some changes in the system and may prove to be one of the most successful President of US. I heard his first speech, which shows he is humble and is willing to take everyone along with him in the development of the country.

Bi honestly do not see how he is the best person to be president. He feels it's okay to degrade women, make fun of specials needs people, he is racist. Hillary might not be the best person either she was better then Trump. I do not want to see a wall go up around our boarder. Third party would never get put in ever. Our country is doomed so very doomed and I hope that my children Re nor affected by this. He will. It being us together he is already even before in office treating us all a parent. People are scared of what's to come with him being in charge. He isn't the in,y person in charge of what's to happen our congress us as well and we have one spot open. A person that has never been in government probably shied knot he running and be the preseident.

I don't have any illusions or expectations about what President Trump intends to do or will do. I was not excited or enthusiastic about the hopefuls when they campaigned. I'm not happy and hopeful about the leadership now. I'm not all doom and gloom about the future of the country either. America is already a great nation. I don't believe any one person or group of people can diminish it's light or make it fall. We especially won't crumble from the inside. We're not the Roman empire. God bless America back at ya!
