So we apparently survived the election. I seriously have some friends on suicide watch, though, because they're taking this hard. To calm things down, here's the next song on my list of favorite songs by the great country-rock legends Poco.
#3: Keep On Tryin'
Maybe a fitting song for the post-election blues, too, regardless of which side of the outcome you were on.
One of Poco's charted hits (it made the top 50), it's a classic. When I first saw the Eagles, in 1978, Timothy Schmit had left Poco for the Eagles, but they hadn't recorded any music together. So, the Eagles did this song.
And, oh, what a song. Quiet and simple, just Schmit on guitar and unparalleled harmonies by his band mates. A beautiful song about getting back to one's love ("I've got to find a way to get on home to you").
This remains one of Poco's classic songs, and for good reason. It's marvelous.

Good stuff. Too bad most people only know "I can't Tell You Why. "

Tim had a ton of great songs with Poco. And I'm probably the only Eagles fan on earth who doesn't care for "I Can't Tell You Why."
