myLot: It's just like REAL LIFE. Do you agree or not and WHY?

Here's what I think. It is a microcosm of real life. You've got people who are trying to make the place better. People who are just after the money. People you'd like to be your friends. People you would NOT like to be your friends. People after real substance. People who just want to stay on the surface. People who tell you who they really are. People who don't. People from all over the world. People from your own country. People who take responsibility and people who blame others. Your experience here is what you make of it, just like life. Don't you think so? Why or why not?

I think there is an aspect of that however there are also people who are doing it hoping that people will read between the lines as to what they are really on about.
For myself I am doing as part of an experiment I have been running of different ways to make money on the internet, and want to at least make $10 which at the rate I am going will see me around for another month or so!
There are certainly a lot of plain rehashed questions around, I like your ones they are original and interesting!

Why thank you! I am doing similar things myself. Trying to find online income. myLot can be fun, but not really worth it for me as I need to really provide for my family. But since I put in so much time, darnit, I WILL make that $10. heh heh. That where you are at too? I will probably stick around after that, I imagine, just try not to devote so much time to it.

All one has to do is log onto MyLot, and look at the most recent "Discussions" to realize that what you say is true. Before I came here to your discussion, I saw a nice little mixture of posts.
" 200 Dollars in one day, ask me how "
- Someone here for money.
" Do you think I'm Sexy? "
- Someone here for Self-esteem boost.
" Aren't you tired of *Leaves out user name* "
- Someone here to fight, and be mean.
" Be my Friend! "
- Someone here to make friends, ( and probally make money too, by using the friend angle. )
Then you have the virage of senseless discussions that want to know your name, age, birthday, favorite color, what you first smelled when waking up this morning. They're like the "Popular" kids, because they get hundreds of responses.
Then you have the more serious discussions, like this one of yours, and some of the more long-winded people on MyLot, who get little to no response, unless a friend gives a pity response. They're the intelligent "nerds" who are deemed as outcasts for not following the popular thread.
Is MyLot like life? Yes, It is, and I agree with you 100%. But in a way, I think you could lower that down even more and say that MyLot is like being trapped in High School all over again.
*Bangs tin cup against her cage bars.*

Nice. You are right. I like your phrase, "the virage of senseless discussions". That is what has kept my husband out of myLot, even though he is my referral! We could be making SO MUCH MONEY! (tongue firmly in cheek on that one.) I also enjoyed "what you smelled when waking up this morning" as a discussion. I'm not sure if you really saw that one or not, but I am tempted to search it and post if it's not there! That might be interesting. I suppose high school was a microcosm of life as well, huh? Also, if you look around, there are a lot of people who aren't that far out of high school. Hmmmm. Luckily, we all have hall passes to skip whenever we feel like it. Well, my browser is shutting on me, so I hope this posts. Thanks for your insightful response!

My good buddy Sumnerrain crawls out of the woodwork, inspired by high school. LOL. Just for the record, I DID start the "What did you first smell this morning discussion" over an HOUR ago and NO ONE has responded. Pfft. I guess I just am not cool enough for the stink chroniclers. lol. I really think it could be funny, though. Go oooonnnn...go there... http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/300867.aspx

Wow, this is exactly what I was thinking when I read this analogy, all these cliques remind me of high school. You have the punks, the stoners, to cool kids, the jocks, the smart kids, the geeks, the cheerleaders, the troublemakers and and the rest of the rest of the kids just trying to make it through high school without losing themselves.

Wow, I don't think I could have even come up with that analogy. I love it. It sums up reality in an easy to read post. It almost makes it sound as if I was at work or sitting in the local bar just having random discussions with people. Your synopsis should be part of the marketing strategy of Mylot. You nailed it exactly, experience is either "what you make of it" or "what you take from it". Brilliantly said.

Wow! Thanks. I think you made my night. :) I just have too much time to think while I'm trying to put my kid to sleep. ;) If myLot is interested, we can negotiate my marketing fees. heh heh. They are more than I'm making right now. ;) Thanks for stopping by! I was beginning to worry that no one would ever see this post. Alienstar up above you is my buddy, so he is always good to start things off, but I thought he might be the only one. Glad that's not so!

Nice. Thanks for your response. It's interesting how many microcosms and macrocosms exist, huh? "As above, so below" is how the saying goes, and I really believe that. Everything is related. If you are searching for something positive, you can find it, and likewise if you search for something negative. The mystery of the ALL. :)

Over $2/day. Good for you! I like myLot, but I don't know if I could do it enough to make that much. Glad it's working out for you. :)

what you just wrote there was awesome. you nailed it right on the head. But then you can also apply that to everything you join. take myspace, or xanga for example. you have that exact same analogy there.
