Why Did Trump Win?

First thing I want to say is I don’t like writing or talking politics. But many people are wondering how Trump won. I think many people are in shock because the media had projected Clinton had a eight-five to ninety percent chance of winning. In other words, winning by a landslide. This leaves me wondering how many people who planned to vote for Clinton didn’t vote at all since they figured Clinton already had the election in the bag. Most who voted for Trump were from rural America. That says these people are fed up with the “usual business of politicians.” All they could see with the continuing of business as usual was more lost jobs–more companies moving out of the U.S. More goods being made overseas. I believe Clinton lost many votes when she said she would put a lot of coal companies out of business. How would you react if someone threatened to take away your livelihood? You would certainly put up a fight if at all possible. Even though she said she would see that these workers would have other jobs, all one has to do is look at the people who lost manufacturing jobs. Yes, many got jobs but many now earn a lot less. Many of these people wanted change. Trump gives them hope that there will be change. They feel with Clinton it would be the same old thing. More jobs lost to companies moving overseas. More jobs lost to cheaper goods being manufactured overseas. At least, from everything I’ve heard, I believe that is how they feel. I believe the fact that Clinton is a woman had nothing to do with her losing. Matter of fact it may have had more to do with helping her get as close to winning as she did. I know people who voted for her solely to put a woman in the White House. No concerns about how she would do or her policies–just get a woman in the White House to break that “glass ceiling.” I also do not believe, as many Clinton followers have expressed, that it was a bunch of idiots that voted Trump in. I believe the people who voted for Trump have felt they have been left out in the cold with no one in either party listening to their concerns. Now Trump seems to be hearing what they have been screaming about for years. And these people are willing to give him a try. Here is my final thoughts. Trump has been elected. It is time for people to quit crying and throwing temper tantrums and come together. When Obama was elected I know of many people who said there would be no more America before his term was up. I’m sure that has been said of many past Presidents, too. We have been here 240 years and I’m sure we will still be here four more years from now (or however long Trump is president). Keep in mind, there are many things a President cannot do without the approval of Congress.

Maybe that's because everyone is curious as to what kind of a person he truly is , specially that he won .

We can only hope that he will do a good job. People need to quit acting stupid and doing protests it is over and done.

@RichardMeister When minorities get all kind of benefits while majorities are continuously told they are racist ,fascist, what not for small incidents in country.Media continuously spread lies, political correctness reaches its peak this is what happen. Leaders should treat everyone equally. They should have boldness to defy political correctness even it cost them popularity.Majority should get appropriate appreciation for contribution they make towards their country. If not backlash is going to happen

I prettty much agree with all your points here. But at the same time I feel a huge uncertainty and uneasiness about the next few years - more than ever before. The sun will come up each day no matter what ...but it's the weather and outcomes that can either be good or bad.

@RichardMeister But I also wonder how much of it is a coat of paint and how much of it is the real deal . . . what is the truth and how will things be carried out from here on out.

@much2say Yes, how much is true and how much is garbage. I heard on the radio from two different reporters about things that was found in the Democratic party's emails that I had never heard on TV news or anywhere else. One was about going to union halls and hiring unemployed people to go to Trump rallies and cause disruptions. The other was about trying to find women who would claim Trump groped them. I found it strange that as soon as Trump threatened to sue these woman, they seemed to disappear. After hearing what the Democratic party did to push Sanders out of the race makes me believe this is what happened. And why was that recording of Trump talking about groping women some 10 years ago not released as soon as Trump announced his bid for the Presidency? I believe it was because it had more effect closer to election time. If it was released early on people may have forgotten about it by the time the election rolled around. I'm not saying Tump is an angel, I'm just saying Clinton pulled some dirty tricks herself. I will admit that I was just as surprised as anyone when Trump won.

Every election when someone new is elected there are concerns from people who are supporters of the opposite party. I believe a lot of worry comes from the media's attempt to paint Trump as a bad guy and Clinton as an angel.

There were a lot of Berine poeple that vote for a third party. The people most of the time vote to the left . this why trump got the electric college vote and hillary got the popular vote

Very well explained. I don't approve of everything Trump has done, but for the first time, I 'm actually excited to hear who is being appointed to his staff and who will help run this country. We were headed in the wrong direction for the past eight years. I don't dislike Obama because he's black or Hillary Clinton because she's a woman. There are several blacks and females I would vote for as our President. But I'm glad to see conservative leaders in our government and pray they will make decisions that will be good for all our citizens.

I believe that was and is the hope of everyone who voted for Trump. It is very apparent that many did not want to see either Trump or Clinton in the White House. But everyone knew there would be no changes with Clinton in the White House.

That's why we got Duterte in the first place here because the liberals in my country had spread corrupt acts and transactions, same old thing. Well, at least people seen the vote change, I hope most who voted definitely want real change.

An excellent post @RichardMeister . And you are certainly right about Congress. 2/3rds majority must agree on passing laws and regardless of the fact that it is now Republican, doesn't mean Trump can do what he wants.

It's always surprising to me when people think the President can do whatever he wants. One just needs to look at Obama to see how he was blocked by Congress on many of the things he wanted to implement.
