The Briefest Tenure

United States
November 12, 2016 9:13am CST
Over the past few days, I've put up three discussions here, all political. All three have been removed. Two of them had been previous posts of mine, on Facebook and elsewhere; a third was originally posted here, and then relayed to Facebook. The reason is simple: these matters are important, given that we just elected a misanthropic fascist to the White House, and I'm trying to reach as many people as possible. But the moderators of this site have, in all three cases, opted to remove them, without warning, as apparent violations of an obscure clause that promotes exclusivity over dissemination. Thus ends my brief active tenure on this site. I came here because a dear friend encouraged me to do so; she felt that my essays on these topics needed to be seen here. But I'm not keen on wasted effort, nor am I keen on censorship. While I may continue to reply to posts on this site -- primarily those of my friend -- this will be the last discussion posted under my name.

The exclusivity clause exists because myLot has a single moderator who does not have the time to verify that all of the posts made here are the account owner's intellectual property. But you're right--it's not clearly spelled out in the community guidelines, and that has to be incredibly frustrating for new members like you. @GoAskAlice Perhaps you could see about having that added to the Community Guidelines so it's easy for all members to find?

I know I had a horrible time finding that stuff when I first started here, I didn't expect the rules to be under "help". I thought help was if I needed help because the site wasnt working or something

I don't have a strong political stand, But I am of the opinion that all should be allowed to air their views. Having said that, I also think the site's rules ought to be respected too.

The posts here are not allowed to be negative towards others so I can see where even one word here might get this post removed too. It stinks writing heartfelt things and having them be deleted so we just have to be careful what we write not to offend anyone!

As I have so oft noted before I do wish that notes would be sent when that occurs so one knows the whys and wherefores but it is what it is I suppose. Appreciate you hanging around despite it all.
