My favourite word is 'Nihil', a Latin word which means 'nothing'. What is your favourite word and what does it mean? It could be from any language which may not necessarily be your mother tongue(as it is in my case).

My favorite word(s) would be the courtesy words - Please, Thank you, I'm Sorry - Courtesy is something not seen often these days and much appreciated when I do see it.

And I remember my stint with customer service. I always say please, thank you, and empathy.

I agree with you on the subject of courtesy. On most of the occassions nowadays, when these words are used, they sound the way they're supposed to.

@jobelbojel My brother used to work in a call centre. He said that these words had become a necessity of his work life.

I think many kids and former kids would say that of their parents.

@Nihil90 They both are important when speaking . We have to use words that are appropriate and can't hurt any sensitivities .

So the manner in which you speak is more important to you than the word itself I believe.

I see you've used 'nihil' in your 'signature' or whatever it is they call it. I don't think I have a favourite word. 'Chocolate' is a pretty good one.

So a word looses its charm as soon as you come to know of it.

I am reminded of one of the dialouges of the film 'V for Vendetta': "Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate."
