A Ready Reminder

Last Saturday , I cleaned all the drawers in our bedroom .
In one of the drawers I found my planner , which is actually what I made into a listing of cellphone nos. of my love ones, in case I lost my cellphone .
In it too , are addresses of those relatives and friends abroad and here in the Philippines .
Most of all , there is a listing of my ATM and that of PayPal and EON card .
Then , a listing of all the passwords of my email , online writing sites and the lock of my travelling bag .
Imagine , had I not reviewed them , I would not know anymore what is the password of the lock for my travelling bag , when I have just bought it last April .
In a way , I felt afraid that someday , I might forget all of them as I will grow old already .
This notepad , is ready to remind me or even my daughter , when I already can’t remember them anymore .
I am doing all I can to have a sharp body and mind until I grow old . Most of all I keep praying for God to permit me to die of old age , with all my faculties still sound .
Have you ever felt this kind of feeling and have readied yourself like this too already ?
I know some of you are still to young to be ready like this .

What do you do to be able to remember those passwords and the like ?
Can you ask your mother what are those foods she always eats and what she always does that made her still have an excellent memory when she is already 95 . She's an amazing woman .

I try not to think about losing my faculties although I will try to save enough so as not to be a burden to my children.

I have a planner but seldom put information / details on it. You have a nice storage though. Aging is something we have to look forward. As we age, we acquire wisdom - and more of it.

I suppose you don't use a planner . ACtually , i just use it for that purpose not for anything else like journalize . myLot is already my journal .
Yes, i agree as we age we acquire wisdom indeed and most of it are from our experiences in life , which is the best teacher .

@SIMPLYD I buy planners and at the end of the year - they are all empty. I had one that I started scribbling activities - after March - no entries were made.

My husband doesn't mind it actually . But i told him in case something happened to me he just have to look at the passwords and maybe announce my demise .
No , i don't have your address that's why . When our daughter would already be having a high pay , she promised us that we will travel together me , hubby and her . So, i will private message you here and ask for your address and visit your place .
How's that for my future travel plan?

@sunrisefan It is obvious in your personality that you are that systematic , my friend . I admire you for being that way .
Somehow , i am sytematic also but not as you because you have a list of all the deceased relatives and birthday and anniversaries too . Maybe because i can still count on my fingers my deceased relatives .

With all the sites needing passwords and some insistent you can't used the same one from another site, I have a book with all my passwords in them. It's also right at my fingertips. I do need to write down all my addresses, as the only place I have them at the moment is in Notebook online.

It is better to be always ready of any eventuality , so your love ones can easily withdraw the money you left behind , if ever .
We are not being morbid doing that , but we are just being realistic because life is short so we always have to ready always .

You are still young to worry about it, but it is still good to always be prepared. I am thinking of that too, so I have a notebook/planner where I have all my passwords; bank atm nos. etc. and like you I am thinking I might forget all of it when I am already too old.

Life is short , so we should be always prepared in all aspects of our lives . That is how i am now .
I am glad i gave you a hint of what is the better way of having those passwords and account numbers handy , in case you forgot them , specially those that are rarely used .

@SIMPLYD I already have it, but it is not arranged so well, so I have to transfer it to a bigger planner.

I just use two passwords in all of my account but in every site they have little differences. In that way, I don't have to memorize a lot of passwords for every account
I really wanted to keep a planner but always end up being ignored for the whole year...

I really would like to only have one or two passwords . But then each site would ask for another stronger one .
As to the planner , it's only used for those .

That is good that you write down all information just in case you lose your cell phone.

i think i need to write down the numbers stored in my phone. i might have to have it repaired.
in the past, i used to organize my address book that way, too, by grouping people, instead of following a-z.
just make sure you keep that planner in a secure place, but also inform your hubby and daughter about it.

I think as one gets old , we tend to be forgetful of some things we don't often get to use .

Before , i have them written at my cellphone . But i transferred it to my planner which i leave at home . I realized if my phone will get lost , the one who will pick it up can open my accounts through that phone .

I don't know how old you are but it sounds like you have just realized your mortality. When we are kids, teens, and 20 something we thing we will never be old. But, in our 30's and 40's we realize that the clock is ticking and our hourglass is getting bottom heavy. Then when you get to your 50s, it hits like a ton of bricks...Hey, I could die in a few years. I will be turning 57 this week, growing old is there for me. I'm pushing 60.
I have never been that great at remembering things.I save photos and other memorabilia in photo items cause I want to be able to remember. I have a pocket size address book that I bought just to enter ID's and passwords. I use it quite a bit. Since I am a freelance writer, I write from home. So it is not so hard for me to keep the little book where I can find it. I just put it in the top drawer of my desk. However, for a few years after I started using the book, I worked out in the field as an Insurance Inspector. If technology was up where it is now, I would have probably entered all the information in a file on my phone. At the time, I didn't have an internet connection and no smart phone.

That is true . As we grow older , we realize that we can die at any time , so it's better to be prepared , so when we leave this world our love ones will not have difficulty tracking those those thing specially our bank accounts and properties if there are any .
I started being like this when i reached 50 . I am now 57 , this coming December .
I am happy too that you have been having this pocket size address book , to jot important things , which can come really handy when you forgot them .
I don't store any information like those accounts and passwords in my cellphone . It could get lost that's why . My mini notebook is just at my drawer too at home .
