Moving House this week.

Dundee, Scotland

Sign papers for new abode on Friday. Move Saturday. Thats the plan. Methinks already the plan is flawed. Discussions on what we bin and what we take are eating away at the time we have. Its like a big adventure Logistical nightmare Now best get a removal man and van organized.

I shudder at the thought of ever having to move again. Our last move was from London to Yorkshire, with a newborn baby, a hyperactive 4 year old and an ancient cat, I'm amazed I found the time and energy to pack anything, let alone empty the contents of an entire house. Coming over in a cold sweat just thinking about it now. Good luck with your move.

@saulgoodman We moved up here 19 years ago. In some respects it was like coming home because I was born up here, but I'd lived in London a long time. I didn't really miss it at all. It was just nicer to live somewhere with nice countryside on our doorstep and frankly it was ridiculous that you could get a 4-bedroom detached up north with what would only buy you a pathetic 'starter home' in London. It meant I got to see more of my parents anyway, which I'm grateful for now as it meant my children got to really spend time with them when they were growing up. If we'd stayed in London we would have seen them only rarely. Now that my dad's no longer with us, I do feel comforted that my children got to spend so many happy times with him.

@5thHouse You went back to your roots and I am going to a place only 10 miles or so from where I was born. Aberdeen is like the London of the north. Very expensive. Us downsizing will free up lots of money for us to enjoy. Kids all left home so nothing much to keep us here - we moved here all those years ago with parents in mind. So its us time now and our new quaint little town house will do the job nicely and serve as a nice base for all our biking adventures to start from and a nice place for us to call home. Only 4 sleeps left here now.

I never ever thought we would move. I thought I would die here. Anyway we just had our last weekend in this house. Much the same as the previous 930. Our 2 ancient cats seem quite unphased by all the upheaval. Downsizing is good. I have to believe that. So how long ago did you move to Yorkshire from London? Do you or did you miss London at all after you moved? The place we are going only has a population of 7k. One main street and no Sainsbury. Only about 1/30th the size of Aberdeen. But everything is falling into place. Removal van organised today. Roll on the weekend.

Hi Marie. I think it might. But there are a few things which could go wrong. On moving day I have to drive two motorcycles to our new home. The cats might not like pet carriers. The van driver could get lost. Its all gone to plan so far so heres hoping that con tinues to be the case.

I lived in my last place till I moved to where I live now 17 years. When I finally moved here it was a nightmare with the move and things that came after that. Good luck and hope all works out for you.

Good luck with the move. We moved recently and I wanted to trash more things than my husband. It was a bit of an argument but I see no sense in keeping things that we don't need anymore.

Hiya. My wife doesnt really do parting with stuff easily. She seems to be able to justify keeping stuff I thought had been thrown out years ago. I need more than luck. Divine intervention perhaps.
