Appliances such as electric fan, microwave oven, toaster, televisions, etc have different warranty duration. However, when we have these appliances for quite a while, we tend to purchase a new one once they are faulty instead of contacting the manufacturer. It mostly happens to my electric fan. I rather purchase a new one than to contact the manufacturer for warranty claim.

Lately, everything is less expensive and a lot worse made. I keep the warranties, but I should take them all out and throw them away. I´d gain a drawer

I think it is important to ask the warranty, its important for the protection of what we buy.

Some units has three or more year warranty. Australia has one of the best consumer law when it comes to warranty.

@chiwasaki For what concerns some electronic items, like Hard Disk, USB key and so on, the warranty is 10 years. For every appliances we can extent the warranty from 3 to 6 years paying the amount of 8$. I always do.
