There are many gifts I received in the past but the most unforgettable one is a necklace given to me by my mother. I always wear it now and if I have a daughter someday I would like to give it to her too. How about you? What's the best gift you received?

My best gift was my first sheep. She would follow me everywhere and that was fine until she became an adult. The one place she wasn't allowed was school and it was a challenge to keep her home.

Sheep is not common in where I live but I had a goat once as a gift. When he became an adult someone stole him from our backyard.

@toaqua My best gift ever was the piano that my husband bought me decades ago.

That's nice, I wanted to know how to play the piano.

How nice that you are treasuring your Mom's gift and hope your future daughter would do the same. I have received lots of gifts so can't really choose which is the best of them for I treasure them all especially those given by my husband.

I am not sure, but I like gifts that are thoughtful and not necessary with what I want from a materialistic standpoint.

That is lovely. I was allowed to get a dog for my birthday when I was a kid and she was a great companion for 12 years to me through my teenage years.

What a wonderful gift. I can't get a dog as a gift because my mother don't like it.

Sounds wonderful! I have some jewelry that were passed down from my Mom... I only have sons so I may pass them down to my daughter-in-laws someday or maybe even grand-daughters, not sure yet.

That's wonderful. It was the gift of a compliment from my grandfather. I was playing Silent Night on the piano for my parents without the music. I had taught myself how to play it from memory. I messed up and my grandfather yelled at me and told me I could play better than that. It warmed my heart and I will always remember that as I started over and played it perfect. My parents were in shock that I could do so. That is also a precious memory because they never put much faith in me doing anything and I showed them I could.

I think there is something about parents' gifts that make us treasure them so much. I received so many gifts from my mom as well and I cherished them all, especially the laptop that I am using now. :)
