assignment payment

A week ago I was assigned an assignment which was to be submitted today. With all the work done from my side the problem is that I still have not received the complete payment. Well in the past all payments were made clear in the starting only. The man told me day before yesterday that he will submit the balance that day itself but it still has not been done. Now should I submit the assignment like this only. Would it be immoral for me to wait for the money and then transfer? What do business ethics have to say about this?

@amitkokiladitya Yea! If you feel they are delaying the payment...don't hesitate asking for what you deserve!

I would hold the submission. This is not charity work...you deserve to be paid for your hard work.

I will read the comments with interest. I guess it depends how much you trust this man/company. Do you think maybe he won't pay you? If he said he'd transfer the money and hasn't, then you have a reason not to deliver the work I guess.

@amitkokiladitya I think that the best way for it to be done is the way you both agreed on it at the start. If things change then ok but I personally believe that whatever was planned and agreed upon at the beginning, should stay the same.

It appears that this is an online job. For fixed projects, I only work on a project if its's funded one so that there's a guarantee that I'll be paid. Other than that, I don't even if the client paid promptly in the past. My rule is for every assignment, the payment should be a funded one. Such applies even to regular clients. In your case, I should have not worked on it if the balance is not guaranteed.

I'm bit confused with these. better to read the comments and learn something rather than giving wrong ideas.
