She Told Her Teenager To Use Condom!

In a late night local tv talk show, a Filipina actress and her teenage son were being interviewed by the host about their mother and son relationship During the course of their interview, the actress said that her teenager is already dating. Then later she proudly added that she was telling her teenager to use condom for protection. I was somewhat shocked. I am also a parent and have a son but never would I encourage my son to engage in pre-marital sex even with protection. But of course that is only as far as I am concerned. I'm not insisting my moral belief to that actress or to anyone.

In my opinion sometimes it depends on the tone and the conversation, it could range from ecouragement to advice and even a warning.

You are right but in her case, she admitted it was an advice.

@louievill I would rather that she kept it between her and her son. But she is an actress so she probably is up to something.

@salonga parents have different levels of openess to their children, I for one is very open to my children, perhaps movie stars are that way another level so to say, i would never know since I am not a famous actor parent, i would not also know how to go about it in front of TV cameras.

I only get to see them on the very first part because i went to sleep already . I must say Aiko is a liberated mother . Maybe that's because she speaks from her experience with Jomari .

@SIMPLYD Certainly, unfortunately she had a lot of failed relationship and hope her son do not experience the same.

She could not talk that way if she did not engage in the same thing.

Had I had children of my own @salonga , I would have prefered that they wait till they are married before taking such an important step in life.

How wonderful to hear that. That is the best advice a parent could ever give to the kids.

i believe the actress wants her son to be safe, not necessarily on pr-marital se_ not impregnating the woman, but to possibly protect himself from HIV and AIDS. it is the jet set age now and the kids are 'educated' early on se_. of course too, the moral obligation of the mother should be explained to the son; that is not encouraging him to have se_, but for protection.

Maybe she's just being open minded for her kids since they're boys. Yeah, my mom tried not to say something like that and they end up rebelling having wife and kids. I think she was just being practical and hope it would save his kids from unwanted pregnancy.

We have so many practical mothers to today but I prefer to be a woman of wisdom when it comes to morality issue.

They teach that in grades 5&6 now. My husband spoke to both our sons about precautionary measures, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry.

I guess it all depends on what we believe and from that we choose on how to deal with the issue.

I suppose sometimes kids don't listen and it is better for them to be prepared. I would advise against it but teenagers will always do what they want in the end.

It is hard to deal with rebellious kids, I am blessed that my only son is not.

Her dad is Japanese Spanish and I heard her mom is Filipino American so most likely she grew up with more liberal values. Also Teenage boys have uncontrollable hormones. I lost my virginity at age 14 inside the school library.
