I find that the most useful menu is the "Most Recent Discussions". Once you yourself have used tags to describe your own discussions, the "Interesting Discussions" menu will begin to show discussions with the tags that you have used, so it's quite a good way to find discussions you are likely to be interested in. The menus "Hot Discussions" and "Top Rated Discussions" show discussions which have received the most responses and likes (respectively) in the last 24 hours. Don't forget to read the Community Guidelines ('rules')! You'll find them under "Help" in the menu beneath your username at top left.
