Now how many if you will agree to this? When we are happy we enjoy the music.. But when we are sad we understand the lyrics.

I've heard that quote before, and being someone who loves to listen to music, I think I would agree with it. :)

@chooseyourmissy1234 I'm gonna sound like a broken record, but I recommend New Kids On The Block; they do have some positive songs (outside of their love songs). :) Like "No More Games" and "Block Party". :) And definitely look up "Stay The Same" by Joey McIntyre (member of the group; but his solo song) - it's sends a wonderful message!

I prefer to listen to those songs, which have some meaningful lyrics. Songs without meaningful lyrics are just for enjoyment/dancing.

Yes partially it is correct. If I become sad and a sad song is playing that time which I like then I try to go deep into the song .

I think it is the lyrics that you can pick up when you are sad because the singer could be telling a story you can relate too.

Not just the lyrics. I tend to feel the sorrow of the songs' notes more when I'm sad. How about you?

I heard this one before and I really think that's true. It's not like we understand the lyrics cause we do understand them before but rather when we are sad we easily relate our feelings with the lyrics and then at that moment the song takes me to a whole new level of feelings... And I want to hear those lines again and again...until my eyes start to fill up.

Yes I partially agree. Its our state of mind that we are slave to. Our state of mind governs kind of approach towards any moment. It prompts us to enjoy or discard that moment, like in happy quotients we overlook lyrics & react to music predominantly while in sad state we listen to words too. Vice versa happens in slow/old songs where we always listen to vocal part more as music part hardly exists in such songs.
