Are sports games rigged?

I watch a lot of ball games and races. One thing I've noticed after a game or race is fans going on social media to say it was rigged. I admit some of the outcomes are questionable. For instance, a team wins on a special anniversary or a caution is thrown in a race when a certain driver needs it. As I said some of these incidents are suspicious, yet I wonder how is it even possible to rig a race or a ball game. I'm sure there's got to be some rule that states a sports league can't alter the game. Do you believe sports are rigged? Or are these accusations the ramblings of crazy sports fans?

The main player really the ref, they some how can swing the game so dramatically when the teams are easily balanced, and I wonder what is going through their minds. Yes I have seen so many years ago on TV a ref jumped for joy when the team scored. Yes I am sure some games are rigged and the races for sure.

@kevinhomealone I wouldn't think a sports league would rig a game or a race, but some of the wins are questionable. It has me thinking if by some chance they are rigging them.
