Christmas Cards from Political Parties

What do you do with these Christmas cards that are sent out by political parties? Do you put them up on display along with the other cards or do you get annoyed by the waste of paper and the blatant attempts to use the festive season as a way to spread the political word? My friend was once particularly outraged to get a card that said, "Happy Christmas from the Labour Party." He said he would rather have received a card from Jack the Ripper. I think it was a bit of an over-reaction, but this was the Blair era so emotions were running high. My mum used to put up all the cards. One year she had Labour, Conservatives and SDP (as it then was) all sitting side by side as if in seasonal coalition. She thought it would be rude not to display them, having received them. The reason I'm musing on this is because I just had an email from the Labour Party to remind me that it was my last chance to buy their limited edition 2017 calendar. They assured me it would "look great in your house." How they reach that conclusion, I don't know. They have never seen my house. I assume they think it would match the decor. To be fair, there's a bit of red in my living room. I won't be buying it though. No thanks. I would rather look at puppies and kittens on a calendar.

I don't believe that I have ever received a political Christmas card. I imagine that I would toss it.

I like that your mum put her cards up side by side - all fraternising with the enemy! Those cards were probably very uncomfortable for the whole Christmas season - so it wasn't all bad!

They need money to continue their interests. We all to do what we believe is important. Their selling tactics can be rather amusing at times.

I would just keep them so long as they are free, might become something of value or part of history sort of memorabilia some day, maybe not in our generation but later for our kids and grand children, just my personal opinion and practice.

They go straight to the garbage can.

A Christmas card from a political party or any company is not "real." A Christmas card is personal.

I don't know if this is as common here, but I know that I did not get any Christmas cards from political parties. But that might also be because I don't live at the address that I am registered to vote at anymore.

I don't get any but I know my mom would get them from the party that she supported and she would display them with the others. If she got them from any other party she threw them away. lol
