Upset with my computer

Yes, I am quite upset with it at the moment. I've been working on a book, as some of you may know. I first started writing it by hand, and lately I've been typing it on to my computer and editing it. I had managed to do a lot of work on it and had done 50 pages worth of it.
This morning, I dropped of my kids at daycare, came back, and sat down to do more work on it. I was having an issue with it, as it was freezing up. It's happened before. I just closed my Word document and proceeded to opened it back up again. However, I was told that it couldn't be found and asked if I had renamed or deleted or moved it. I had done none of that. I've tried to find it with no luck.
I'm not too happy that I've lost a document. I did a lot of work on it and I'm not too happy that I have to start all over. But such is life. I'll keep looking, but in the meantime, it looks like I'm back at page one.

That's a lot of work. I would be upset too. I don't use a Word document right now, just a notebook to type stuff up on. I have gotten into the habit of saving every few minutes. I also have a USB thumb thingy I use to keep everything copied into. This helps me alot. I have one for documents and one for pictures.

I am very sorry to hear that. Were you able to save it before you closed it? If it was saved then I think you should still be able to find it. Or, is there any other person who use your computer beside you? I hope it was saved and you just somehow forgot the accurate filename for it. Hum..if it was deleted, it should just be sitting in your Recycle Bin.

I did save it. I also checked my recycle bin and found something relating to my document, but it still wouldn't open. I needed another app or something for it, which costs money. So unfortunately, until I figure out how to make it work, I'll be starting over. Such is life.

OM gosh that is terrible!! I would be some upset too. That is a lot of work to just up and lose. I wonder what happened to it. Do you check the Recycle Bin to see if it is in there?

you should not be out of luck because I think word backs up your work to a default location on your computer depending on what operating system you have. what operating system do you have. I know this post is a little old but if you have not finished your book I may be able to help. Also do regular backups that way you will know were you saved it to and if you have to reinstall office you can find it and pick up where you left off.

I am really sorry to hear that. I can totally understand your feelings. This is very weird that this document is gone. This is a big lesson. I often backup my important documents online and offline. Sometimes I will even send them to my own email box to store it.
