Avoiding family & social responsibilities is miscarriage of true meaning of "Freedom" or not?

Some of my friends say avoiding family & social responsibilities takes you to threshold of freedom whereas I call it a social defect. Getting rid from family & society is rather a deficient trait of a person. It is not a brave flaunting that I live alone and enjoy my freedom. I find it a selfish and self centered attribute of a person who is so hell bent to achieve his/her personal comfort that he opts to run away from practiced & proven responsibilities curved out by our society. So what is apt; "living alone" and show off falsity of self acclaimed freedom or "live responsibly to nourish & serve our species" and achieve actual freedom of commitment, spontaneity, self belief & contentment.

Freedom is hard to define really because we are always limited by the needs of others. Our freedom should not encroach on someone's else freedom so we find ourselves quite restricted sometimes.

Rightly pointed out by you Judy that freedom is hard to define. But few opinionated ppl badly interpret its meaning. Being restricted in order to respect other's freedom is also "Freedom of Conscience":))
