It's the Thanksgiving edition of my Favorite "Time" Songs series. We're at #4, which belongs to the legendary Depeche Mode and their British hit "A Question of Time." Depeche Mode formed in Essex, England in 1980, beginning as a synth pop band. Once founding member Vince Clarke left, however, the group's sound became increasingly darker after Martin Gore took over songwriting duties (in all these years, the band has never released a bad record, which speaks volumes about Gore's songwriting strengths.) Highly influential (seemingly every electronic group on earth cites them as an influence,) Depeche Mode has, according to Wikipedia, placed 48 songs onto the UK Singles Chart, and have sold over 100 million records worldwide. From their 1986 album Black Celebration (Gold, Silver, or Platinum in multiple countries,) "A Question of TIme" was one of those UK hits, reaching #17 on that chart. An upbeat, danceable tune on what was a fairly dark record, "A Question of TIme" was a standout both times I've seen them. "A Question of TIme" has been covered by the great electronic outfit Clan of Xymox. Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy!

Happy turkey day you turkey. It is indeed just a question on time when we all get to indulge ourselves with some once a year gluttony.

one of the best post-punk bands going - here is a quite sad time related song you probably don't have on your list but it is rather nice
