Favorite "Time" Songs #3 - "No Time to Cry"

It is Top 3 time in my Favorite "Time" Songs series, and coming in at #3 is goth legends The Sisters of Mercy with "No Time to Cry. " Led by vocalist Andrew Eldritch, the group's only constant, The Sisters of Mercy formed in Leeds, England, in 1980. Adored by goths, and highly influential in goth rock, Eldritch has always vehemently insisted that his band has never been a goth act, and that they are just a rock group. Despite this, there are a lot of goth bands tripping over each other trying to sound like them. This, despite the fact that The Sisters have released just three studio albums during the band's existence. Performed by the classic Sisters lineup of Eldritch, guitarists Wayne Hussey and Gary Marx, and bassist Craig Adams (they have always used a drum machine called Doktor Avalanche,) "No Time to Cry" was a single from their 1985 debut album First and Last and Always. The song wasn't really a hit: it stalled at #63 on the UK Singles chart, and I've found no evidence of any US release (not surprising, as the album failed to chart over here.) Goth or not, this is the sound many a goth band emulates. Don't let the "goth" word keep you from enjoying it!

Goth does not scare me. I actually like when music implements some sort of goth into it. People seem to always want happy songs these days. Sorry, that is just not the reality of the world we live in. So i can see why many would want to emulate this band.
