Debating a new job

I work in the activities department in a nursing home. I absolutely love the job that i do; however, i am considering a change in location of said job, or even a complete job change. Why? Well, at this job I am working the position of two people rather than one. I know it isn't the most ideal and other people have it worse, but it is very difficult for me to be efficient in both if I can't be successful in one. There is just so much on my plate with my job load. Also, I find myself becoming like the people i work with. They are moody, negative, grouchy all the time and happy about nothing. That is the complete opposite of my personality. I am usually always joyful, always have a smile on and nothing can get me down. I used to be a light in the dark places, but now i am becoming like them. That is something I don't want and don't like at all. I want to continue to be myself and be successful at my job. If you were me, would you move on or suck it up and stay??? Please Help

i think your decision to change jobs makes total sense. I have also not stayed doing something that my heart was not in. It took me a while to figure out what i could do that would bring me happiness. Maybe you could begin to look for options before you leave this job.

If I was it your position, I'd definitely move to a different job. If you think about it, you spend more than half of your adult life in this job and life is too short to be unhappy - regardless of the reason.

I think it is fair to want to move to another job. Are you like an activities director there? I know where I live they usually have the director and an assistant so some of the work load is taken off each other. Everyone needs help sometimes in their job. And you're right. Your best of the best work would probably be if you didn't have so much on your plate. Everyone's negative attitudes probably makes it even harder. I hope you find the right answer as to what to do, within yourself, that will benefit you the most. Sadly so many people are just Debbie downers. If you do move jobs hopefully your happy attitude will rub off on the others.
