Day 82 Proverbs 13:15 Proverbs 13:15 Good understanding gives favor: but the way of transgressors is hard. Most people love to learn new things. They excel in school, read everything they can, do research, keep in the know on those things they are interested in. Those who don’t study, or attempt to learn anything new are just the opposite. They do not excel in anything and often get in trouble. People tend to gravitate to people who have a good understanding on various subjects. Solomon was one of those people who had good understanding in many diverse areas. 1 Kings 4:29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. (KJV) Ecclesiastes 2:4 I made me great works; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that brings forth trees: Solomon was an architect, horticulturalist, understood irrigation, as well as being king in Israel. As Christians, you are to work, doing the work of the kingdom of God until the return of Jesus Christ. Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (KJV) What is it you are to reap? Souls. Matthew 9:37 Then said he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest. (KJV) When you work with understanding in all that God sets for you to do, you will accomplish great things in the kingdom of heaven. However, those who profess to be Christians, but sit on their hands and do nothing, will not reap any rewards, and will try to find the easy way to go about in this world, often finding themselves working with the world instead of for God. Jesus told a parable about his role as both our shepherd and the door through which we are to go through for eternal life. John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. 4 And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. (KJV) Strangers lead people astray. They do not have the good of the people in mind, but their own ways, making it hard to accomplish anything in this world. Understanding is knowing Jesus as Savior and Lord and that he will always lead you where you need to go. Transgressors have no knowledge of Jesus, but follow the world and their own ambitions. When they do, they follow Satan who fills their hearts and minds with his agenda for their lives. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (KJV) Let’s pray: Father, give me understanding to know what you would have me do for your kingdom, and keep Satan and his agenda for me far from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. 'Those who don’t study, or attempt to learn anything new are just the opposite. They do not excel in anything and often get in trouble.' "As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him." This verse comes from the New Testament book of, 1 John, chapter 2, verse 27, from the Christian bible. Does what you said here jell with what John told us? Do we need to learn from other's or is what the Holy spirit teaches us always fully sufficient for us all, in all ways? The love in any subject comes out of it within us when we learn it from the wisdom point of the Holy Spirit, but even though we need no other learning than this in its way, we must also try to become wise in the ways of the world to pull our weight, so to speak, and to work as God wants us to work within our Earthly life here on the Earth. A happy medium is required here then, and a differentiation between spiritual learning and Earthly learning then, is perhaps necessary for most of us to take notice of, in our daily lives here. One type of learning contains the higher wisdom of God, the other the common sense learning of man, I guess.

Not everyone is a Christian, and those who are not and do not want to learn will find themselves in trouble. Those people do not and cannot have the Holy Spirit in their lives. The scripture you cited from 1 John was written by John to other Christians. He was not writing to non Christians.

@just4him "Not everyone is a Christian, and those who are not and do not want to learn will find themselves in trouble." I guess they will be in trouble at the end of their lives too in this case. "Those people do not and cannot have the Holy Spirit in their lives." That seems a bit tough to me, is this true? I think that anyone can have the Holy Spirit in them, Christian or not, can't they, as it (God, or the Holy Spirit) is no respecter of persons, isn't it? The Holy Spirit comes to all people at some time in their lives. All are called, few are chosen, but this means to me because they themselves refuse to choose God, not that God refuses to choose them.

@innertalks Yes, it's tough, but it is true. Those who reject Jesus as Savior and Lord also reject God, and that means they do not and cannot receive the Holy Spirit, also God.
