My latest creation - air fried chicken wings

United States
November 28, 2016 11:37am CST
I am not a wing person, I don't eat chicken skin and I'm not into 'hot/spicy' foods...but my husband likes everything hot and spicy. I found a recipe in the air fryer cookbook and proceeded to give it a try. While my husband was outside cooking my chicken on the grill, I was busy inside cooking his chicken in the air fryer. Now that's teamwork in reverse LOL. First I seasoned the wings as called out in the recipe, then gave them a little spray with Pam then into the fryer for about 20 minutes, stopping a few times to shake the basket. Once they were cooked I put them in a covered container, added a store bought (Hot) wing sauce. I cooked two pounds, he ate one pound and the other pound is in the freezer. When the time comes to eat them I can put them back in the air fryer. I am loving my new toy! Photo is mine - it is the wings straight out of the fryer.

What is an air fryer? How does an air fryer work? Have you been asking yourself about how Air Flyer works? Do you worry about the health of Air Flyer? WORRY no more. The answers are apparent and self-explanatory. You have landed on the right page that answ

You use very little oil. I air fried 3 big potatoes and used 1/2 teaspoon of oil.

sounds healthy with very minimal oil. does the air fryer have to be cleaned after each use?

Yes it has to be cleaned, but the basket is non-stock so very easy to wipe clean.

We both like chicken wings and I prepare them usually on Saturday evening. I bake them in the oven. I brush with a very little olive oil, I add some spices and salt and then I add the hot sauce when I take out of the oven.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, I keep the wings about 40 minutes in the oven.

@LadyDuck I did these in 20 mins. Of course, when you get right down to it - I have a convection oven which is basically what the air fryer is so I could do stuff like that in the oven. But I like new 'toys'.

That's pretty much the same thing but in a smaller 'oven' and less time to cook.

is it healthier, or just easier to use? or both?
• United States
29 Nov 16
well, how much oil do you use to deep fry stuff? Lots...how much to do this 1/2 teaspoon. So the answer is 'both'....

Would love to know if it made them crispy or not- i'm afraid to buy one for that reason- And what would happen with homemade chips?
• United States
29 Nov 16
Yes it makes them crispy - that's the point of the machine. The longer you cook them the crispier they get. I cut the potaotes, soaked them in cold water, dried them, air fried them. This is not the best photo - but those 'fries' are crisp.

Wow! This dish is really attractive! I think I can finish all of them by myself I don't have an air fryer at home. But I have an oven. I think it can also work. I just wonder whether I can make it as well as yours

That was just 1/2 pound and my husband had no problem scoffing down a whole pound.
