Cake Dream

November 29, 2016 8:44am CST
My mother is an expert in baking cakes and I never ventured baking one. However, I decided to bake a cake myself for the first time in a microwave, that too on my husband’s birthday. I browsed through the web picked one easy recipe and followed the instructions meticulously, the appearance was wonderful. Next morning I and my son made arrangements for cake cutting. My husband put the knife to the cake, and to everyone’s surprise, the cake has become so hard that the knife started to bend and almost flip from his hand. It was like in the shape of a flying saucer, very hard and one could use it for disc throwing game. I did not give up, I made yet another one and it was better that the first one. However, I prefer the ready-made mix (at least until I learn to make a perfect one.

I can see how that would happen cooking a cake in the microwave. I have never used the microwave for baking a cake. I always use the oven and it turns out great every time.

I wouldn't trust making a cake in the microwave. For me, it has always been the oven.

I know the famous TV chef Martha Stewart says baking a cake from scratch is easy, but I use the cake mix. I prefer Duncan Hines over Betty Crocker. Although they're both good.
