Drinking in a 'Ole

Actually, I have not been to The Coal Hole... yet but I like the look of the outside.
The pub is thought to get its name from the coal heavers who worked unloading bags of coal on the docks that once stood behind the building. Not the original site, with the building now said to be on the coal cellar of the Savoy Hotel.
The Coal Hole was a 'song and supper' club and regulars did turns singing comic songs and ballads, with Gilbert & Sullivan often performing here.
It was also home to The Wolf Club, for men who were not allowed to sing in the bath, at home; a thinly veiled cover for lots of drinking, doubtless!
