Really? Will the Police just stop you from kissing, or will they give you a ticket or something? Wow, I can't imagine the police doing that in my country. It's interesting to learn about different cultural norms from different countries.

I am from Asia. I think the new generation is greatly influenced by the Western countries as you can see many young couples kissing and hugging in public places these days. Most of our people are able to accept this trend as these are normal expressions of love. Don't our children see us doing that at home too? I believe it give them greater sense of security knowing that their parents love one another. However, the older generation will shy away from such scenes as there exist between them the generation gap.

Public displays of affection such as kissing and hugging are normal here in Canada. It is common to smile and say hi to strangers, and to see couples or families hugging each other or holding hands. There are lines that can be crossed, though. No one is really comfortable to see couples making out on a public bus or something. ;)
