If ridicule was killing people we would not be 7 billions

It is hard to believe, but Domino’s Pizza has a "Domino’s Pizza Delivery Integrated Research Center" in Hokkaido, Japan. This year they imagined to deliver their pizzas during winter holidays with reindeers. They bought a few reindeers, thinking that it would be easy to teach how to drive a reindeer hitched to a sled to their pizza delivery employees, but they could not hire Santa as a teacher, because he is a bit busy at this time of the year, and it seems that they tried by themselves. Poor guys ! a reindeer is not exactly a pony, a donkey, or a skateboard, and they "encountered difficulties to control them". It is the less they can tell, look at the short Youtube video linked. To err is human. The Research Center continued to search and they have had another brilliant idea : they are working on "reindeer-ornamented scooters". Ridicule does not kill, but I think that I would resign before Easter if I was a pizza boy at Domino's pizza, when they will realize that it is difficult to deliver pizzas with a team of giant rabbits. Have you seen something ridicule done by a business recently ? A personal experience ?

Oh goodness me - this photo of the strangest outfit, with the oddest of humans within - is to err is human indeed! But I did read eventually after my initial shock, We have a Van with a shark fin on the top for our Domino's Pizza delivery

I thought that this photo was good to prove that ridicule does not kill. But to persevere is diabolical and "reindeer-ornamented scooters" are even more ridicule than real reindeers in my opinion. I do not understand the idea behind the shark fin. There are not a lot of Domino's Pizza shops in France. The one here has blue scooters to deliver its pizzas, and they were still looking like ordinary scooters last time I saw one. I hope it lasts.

@Inlemay It is perhaps an aerodynamic profile to deliver faster your pizza. Well, yes, it looks like a shark fin.

@topffer well maybe its our perception as we see the sign on the top of a small little delivery van flash past in the streets - it looks shark fin like

Only in Japan. I wonder what Tom Monaghan thinks of this.

@topffer They've been talking about using delivery drones for awhile in the states. People have been threatening to shoot them down.

@cupkitties Drones are forbidden by laws inside cities here, and they are considered like a possible security threat, but shooting them down is less easy : 17 were seen last year above nuclear power plants, they have been shot, but not down.

I suppose that they have a great freedom for the delivery. I read that in New-Zealand they did some tests to deliver pizzas with drones.

That sounds like a terrible idea. The ones on skateboards will slip and fall and drop the pizza box and ruin the delivery.

@topffer LOL that is true. Either way is a bad idea though I think.

I am sure that it is easier for a pizza guy to deliver it with a skateboard than with a reindeer. Both are needing a lot of skills, but it is easier to find people knowing how to use a skateboard than to lead a hitch of reindeer.

I know there are deers in Japan, but I don't know about reindeers. Perhaps the reindeer couldn't follow instructions due to the language barrier . Gotta give them credit for trying .

I have seen hitches of reindeers in Sweden, so it is not impossible, but I guess that you need several weeks of formation for that. It is easier to drive a reindeer-ornamented scooter.

With a GPS on the reindeer, you know where are the... crumbs ?

@topffer not unless the birds get there first

@louievill That's possible. A "reindeer-ornamented scooter" seems even more ridicule, but the pizza man will not have to run behind it, and people will have a chance to get their pizza more quickly.
