What Is Your Favorite Sound?

United States

What Is Your Favorite Sound? That seems like a strange question, maybe. People like all sorts of different types of music. My preference on that is Doo-Wop, 50’s music and then Country. But there are other sounds too. Think about a nice gentle rain falling on the roof at night while you are drifting off to sleep. What about crickets or frogs chirping if you live near a pond? I do. How about ocean waves lapping at the shore with your window open? We just enjoyed that at the beach a few weeks ago.

Me too. I understand that there is an electronic device you can buy that mimics the sounds of the ocean. I'd like to find one. I guess I could search for it online. I think it would be nice.

I wake up at the smallest sound most of the time. Other times my daughter has rang the doorbell several times and I don't hear it. Strange.

I have a sound machine with different settings. I always set it at ocean waves.

@IreneVincent I can't for the life of me remember where I got it never mind how much it cost. I "gave" it to my husband for a birthday present. Of course he doesn't use it. It has several different sounds to choose from, is battery operated, and shuts off by itself after a certain period of time. Sometimes I find I fall asleep within 5 minutes with those waves crashing over my head.

@patgalca I'll just have to check and see if I can find one. It seems like a wonderful idea.

OH yes, that's what I'm talking about. Where did you get it? Is it very expensive?

I like the sound of flowing water that's why my small aquarium is only 3/4 full so the falling water from the over head filter would create a stream like sound especially at night, bubbles created is also good for my fishes.

Have you ever heard any flute playing from PERU? I have seen and heard a group from Peru at an event I went to several years ago and I purchased one of their CDs. I love listening to it.

@shubhu3 It's absolutely beautiful. I would imagine that a person might find Peruvian flute playing on line somewhere. I may try to find it.

I love to hear the sound when i put that big shell on my ears. That swishing ocean wave. And of course, the sound of my little one laughing.

I haven't done that for a long time, the shell on my ear thing, but definitely remember what that sounds like. How old is your little one? A child's laughter is always heat warming.

Silence. The lack of any sound.

Yes, complete quiet is desirable sometimes. I despise commercials that come on suddenly with someone screaming at you about a new car or furniture sale. That gets on my last nerve. I use the MUTE button quite a bit when it comes to television commercials.

A That's sweet. Where is your mother now? I used to sing to my children too and later my grandson, but he is grown now also. If you would like to hear me sing, I am on you tube. Did I tell you that before. I had this song recorded when I was singing at a karaoke bar a couple years ago. It's not perfect, but it's not bad. Here's the link: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ArRSbY1RGlc

Interesting. I learned that bamboo grows very fast. So fast that you can hear the sound of it growing. Do you think that is true? We have bamboo groves here also, but not near where I live.

I don't like the sound of thunder. I am always afraid of storms. I play the piano. Well, I used to anyway. I don't have a piano anymore.
