The theory Jane Z is that they recognize the 3d of the shells instead of thinking it is simply a 'hole' they can fly through. That is my understanding anyway.
All my fault. I'm on a housesit up a mountain and I wanted clearer views of the garden and the birds as they feed. So I washed and polished the glass and the way the light hits this window it looks like it's a hole right through the room to another window.
That's my take on it Jane. I could be being completely bird brined about it but that I my theory. What does everyone else think?
Thanks for the question Jane Z
Oh and the shells? just because I had them, it could be anything.
