Sadly, it turned out exactly how I expected it to.

The other half and I have a friend, someone we both knew seperately before we met each other- but he has been known to cause a few problems and get into things that he knows he shouldn't. Increasingly so in the last year or two.
Well about a month ago I was going through our local jail bookings and saw that he had been arrested. This didn't surprise me much, because this is the fifth or sixth time since I met him that this has happened. I looked up his court case to see exactly what was going on with him and talked to his dad that weekend when I saw him. He violated his probation. Which wouldn't be such a BIG deal if he hadn't been on felony probation. This was also the third or fourth time he had been on probation in the past five years.
Today was his court day, so after trying to call his dad to see what was going on- and not being able to get ahold of him- I looked up his inmate info to see if they had moved him or if anything had changed. Next to him it showed "Hold placed by DOC" which instantly hit me like a punch in the stomach. He is going to prison. Because the court case was just seen by a judge today, it hasn't been updated with the clerk of courts. So I don't know how long he's going to go away for, or what. But still, he is going to prison.
Sadly, I knew this was going to happen as soon as I knew he was in jail. I knew he had run out of second chances with the court system and that this probation blunder was going to cost him his freedom long term. Yeah, it makes me really sad that he couldn't do what he needed to do to stay out of trouble- but in the end everyone makes choices weather they think about the consequences or not. I just hope that this time in prison will show him that he is still young enough to change- but he has to want to change.
The other half was in agreement that this was to be expected.
Well all we can do is pray that this time what he learns really sinks in and he changes for the better.

Sad but sounds like he just wasent going to change any other way. I hope he learns from this and changes his life when he is finally freed.

I do too, he's been through a lot- both self inflicted and not. Maybe this last time will be what shows him that he is capable of changing.

@thislittlepennyearns It is sad. Somewhere along the way in life he got lost and never found his way back. It is heartbreaking to see somebody's life go that way and there really is nothing you can do until they seek the help that they need to change.

Sorry to hear - hope he learns from his lessons that the system is no joke. All the best to him.

You can really want the best for him, but he has to want the best for himself.

Well yeah, hes pretty much repeated the same behavior over and over for the past seven or eight years. He will turn 28 in prison. So he's getting too old for this stuff, but I don't know if hes made the decision that he wants to do better for himself or his kids.

It is a tough situation. Some are allowed to get letters of encouragement from friends. Perhaps this person would appreciate some from you.
