Food allergies

I have a mild peanut allergy and a serious tree nut allergy, all coupled with a mild shellfish allergy. I have to call restaurants ahead of time to make sure I won't die eating there, which leaves me few options (most restaurants can't guarantee that their food hasn't come in contact with nuts/shellfish/peanuts, which may not sound like a big deal, but could cause me my life), and also limits my options at the grocery store. To put it into perspective, some companies don't list when their equipment also processes nut products (Mr. Christie is one of these and I have to settle for off-bran oreos most of the time). I also have to carry an EpiPen, although carrying two is reccomended, which cost roughly 115$ each where I live, and even more elsewhere.
Does anyone here have food allergies? How do you deal with them? What precautionary measures do you take in your day to day life? Do you carry an EpiPen?

I have some common allergies. But I have heard that peanut and shellfish allergies are dangerous, Maybe you should try an only meat restaurant.

Please think before typing. There's no such thing as a meat only restaurant, here or in any other city in a 500km radius, and second, I have to cover my mouth at the grocery store because there are open containers of nuts and I COULD DIE. Seriously.

@RiggsMortis I have never been to Canada. In my country there are meat and salads only restaurantseverywhere. Check online what a "parrillada" is.

I don't have any food allergies. Here usually people will have food allergies for the seafood like shrimps. Some have food allergies for the milk. I seldom hear anyone who I know has food allergies for the nuts but I know it is available for some people.

Yeah, it's EXTREMELY common in North America. I'm fairly certain it's one of the most common food allergies over here.

If you were shopping here you would have to be very careful too as a lot of Nuts are sold loose and not covered up in some places either but most do come in packets. I have an allergy to house dust which is rather bothersome.

With house dust you have to be careful too. But apart from that I took my youngest to a Lung Allergy Specialist and he said you have an allergy I can hear it and that was the first time I realized I had one. I took notice of him and I am careful to keep the dust right down-

I wish it was as simple as an allergy to dust (which I also have)

@lovinangelsinstead21 I'm aware of how careful you have to be with a dust allergy, again, I have one. My point isn't that dust allergies don't suck, it's that very rarely does a dust allergy even compare to what a food allergy can do. Dust makes my eyes and face swell and my body break out in hives. Peanuts and nuts do that too, only I don't stop swelling until I stop breathing. See the difference?
