Excitement turned to sadness

I was expecting three deliveries yesterday and somehow around 6 pm the UPS truck must have coasted up and down our driveway. I had not heard the truck and I was waiting for it. Finally I went online and the tracking sheets indicate my packages were delivered.
My husband went out to retrieve them. He opened the box from Kansas City Steak and put that in the freezer (our Prime Rib for Christmas) and he brought in the other two packages.
We met at the kitchen island, pocket knife in hand I opened the box of Cheryl's cookies, a QVC order. I had wanted to try them for a long time and finally they had a 24 piece collection at a good price. So that made me happy.
The third item was a brown padded envelope from Miles Kimball. Inside that package should have been candy. I ordered 3 sets of their jellied fruit slices. We love them and I was given a 20% off coupon and they also had them on sale $2 off so I thought it was a good bargain. I planned to give the to friends for Christmas.
But, as you can see from the photo - all I got was an envelope and inside was the Miles Kimball packing slip....no candy. I immediately called Miles Kimball and explained the situation The very nice customer service representative looked up my info, apologized many times and told me a replacement order will be going out - no charge - and I should received it within 4-8 business days.
She also said she is going to put a note to their shipping department that they need to package my candy better - maybe use a box instead of a padded envelope. I'll find out when I get it if they paid attention!
Thanks Miles Kimball for good customer service! I hope the UPS driver is enjoying my candy....or whoever wound up with it.
Photo is mine.

I would be upset too, if I had ordered a certain item, and it either ended up being the wrong item or nothing at all. Fortunately, I have never had that happen, and for that I am so grateful. I just ordered 3 DVD's for my son for Christmas from Amazon, and I never have to worry about not getting what I ordered from them. I will get them next wek sometime, hopefully. He had asked for them and I am glad he did, as I never know what to get him, as he never tells me, so I just usually give him money, but this time, he will get what he wants.

@AbbyGreenhill I ordered DVD's for my son for Christmas that he asked for. I am sure that they will be in the box, as I have never had that problem before either, but there is always a first for everything. I will find out this week, as I am supposed to get them this week.

I have been shopping (basically all my shopping) online for many years, this was a first. The UPS, FedEx and USPS packages arrive here several times a week, sometimes 3-4 a day. I guess the odds were this would happen eventually.

@Gina145 This was UPS. We get mail delivery and they do deliver packages...if they fit in the mail box they leave them there, if not they bring up to the house.

@LadyDuck - nope - knock on the door - that's a good one! That would require they taking a walk from the driveway and they don't - if it's raining they put the stuff in plastic bags. Fedes does always deliver to the front door.

UPS always brings our things to the front door, hits the doorbell and leaves. I like their service a lot.

Hope you enjoy your Cheryls cookies. I got them a few years back in a pretty Temptations cookie jar as a Christmas gift. Sorry to hear about your candies and nice that Miles Kimbell is willing to resend at no charge. This time of year it's horrible seeing packages being stolen or in your case ripped open and stolen.

We each had one cookie last night - I had chocolate with buttercream frosting with chocolate chips - out of this world! Stuff happens, as long as they are replacing it I'm ok.

It is hard to know where the breakdown occurred. Most parcels arrive intact.
