Time to change...

The struggle to lose weight is to real in my life, the only time I have had any success is when I was being held accountable for it. I don't currently have that support system, I'm an emotional eater and I'm excellent in making excuses to sabotage myself. I know it's my own fault . But I've reached a new height in my weight gain, which I can tell is hard on my body and it's gotten to a point it's difficult to do every day things, just like walking my dog. So, here I am trying something new that I hope will work for me, I like to take this venue to document my beginning and progress and hope this will be able to serve as a way to keep me accountable for my actions. But best of all maybe make some friends that are having the same struggles, maybe we can support each other, give ideas or just have a "listening ear". Either way, thank you for reading.

I see Alice has introduced you to the mini-fast diet that I just read about. I'm going to start that next week. Too much going on this weekend and I need to plan. Like you, I do a lot of emotional eating so I have to have plenty of options for when my mind pushes my body to grab the food. That takes planning! I have to lose weight because of high blood pressure. I quit smoking two months ago and it's higher than ever so it must be my weight. I need to lose at least 50 pounds and then I'll feel a lot better.
What do you enjoy eating that is low calorie? Me, I like chocolate, cake, cookies, more chocolate. I don't like fruits or vegetables. That's going to have to change! So I'll use this weekend to plan and then try to start on Monday. Are you going to try it, too, Alexa, or do you have other plans?

@IreneVincent I did not get to start on Monday nor yesterday and today is iffy! I have to be in the right frame of mind and prepared with pre-measured foods I like. I haven't been able to do that and don't want to frustrate myself. I will probably shoot for Friday!

I hope it works for you. Just be determined on your "fast days" Like I said anyone can "diet" for 24 hours. Just eat normally on the other days and don't try to make up for the day before.

Yes, surprisingly I had never heard about this one before, but these day's there are so many different diets out there, you don't know whom to believe and what will work. This does seem simple enough, and looks like I could do and have the willpower to follow through. I agree that it takes time planning, I have to go through my kitchen and "clean house", and stock up with only good choices so I have not choice but to eat healthy.
Good for you for the change you've made so far, I know it's very hard for some people to quit smoking, wanting to loose weight to be healthier is just the next step, just imagine how much better you will feel.
I have to loose almost 100 lbs to get to my recommended healthy weight. So I have a long way to go. Fish is actually one of my favorite low calorie items to eat, I prefer fish with the pink meat not sure what it is but seems to have more flavoring, like Salmon or Trout. There are a few choices of fruits and vegetables I enjoy, but usually I like the ones that have the most calories or carbs like Peas and Corn. My wise is chocolate, pizza and carbs, I love bread. Which of course I just have to look at bread and I gain a pound. I did find a substitution for noodles which is called Better than noodles, it's only 15 calories per serving. So I do get my noodle fix.
So looks like you planned on starting this past Monday, have you started and how is it going? I definitely will give this mini-fast diet a go this coming Monday.

Have you tried the " mini-fast" diet? This is one that is really working for some people. You fast every two days or so. Eat what you want on the other days, within reason, but not more than 500 calories on your "fast days." My son has used this diet and has lost over 60 pounds.
He made a list of items that he could eat on his "fast days" and there are lots of low calorie foods out there.
The idea is that anyone can "DIET" for 24 hours. It not only reduces your weekly intake of calories but it fools your body. If a person cuts too many calories over a long period of time, the body goes into a "storage" mode and stores fat, so this way your body doesn't feel deprived. You can vary the days you fast based on your schedule of activities, but you should have no less than three days a week with low calorie intake.
On those days you fill up on veggies and other low calorie foods. You might want to get more information about this type of diet. Hugh Jackman supposedly uses this plan. Always check with your doctor first though.

Thank you Alice, I have not heard about this one, but I just read up on this a bit more and I feel like this is something more manageable to what I have tried in the past, which ranged from No Carbs and No Sugar, Working out and cutting calories to some other fad's out there.
A local Chiropractor even offers this crazy diet plan which restricts you by eating only 525 calories a day, and eating only protein, fruits and vegetables, but ended up being so complicated it became more of a chore then anything else, it worked but it just wasn't feasible for the long run, especially with my crazy schedule.
Thank you again for mentioning this diet, I am going to give this a go starting next week, have to cheat proof my kitchen by throwing anything bad out...it's that time of the season that something not so healthy tends to sneak in the house. I want to set myself up for success, rather then failure.
