Suddendeath poetry Challenge: Journeys

Centralia, Missouri
December 10, 2016 5:15pm CST
Welcome to this weekend’s Suddendeath poetry challenge, Journeys! Anyways, rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you. Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s' poems. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are: anchor, genuine, dream, journey, home My entry is always, below: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Change is on the wind today, home is where we are, even if we go astray, traveling here or far. Journey of a thousand miles, ends with tired feet, Tribulations fought with trials, before ends we meet. Home is what we make of it, anchor in the storm, two lives that we try to knit, to a single form. Dreaming ever towards a life, love for each we share, no life comes with out its strive, but I do not care. Genuine is my love dear, even with some pain, love and sorrow often near, like sun after rain. Life is worth the mess it brings, when hope and love win when need flies free on it's wings and we are the end. ***sorry this is late, net was down from last night to now, just got back online on my pc!

Good poem. Life is a journey and you showed the ups and the downs well.

the downs can feel huge, but they pass, and they are often worth the ups around them

Nice job Jessa and welcome back. I haven't done these challenges in a long while. So here's my turn for this weekend. You're my rock, my anchor to keep up and from floating away, Holding steady, I'll charter the course that's set in front of me, Like a dream, I'll sail away in my sailboat and let the wind sway, Smooth sailing ahead with no roaring rapids to be my difficulty. Perseverance and determination would make it genuine and surreal, Closer by each step I take every day, it would direct me straight right to my goal, When I close my eyes, my muse guides me on a journey I can feel, Right at home, I can taste victory in my hands, savoring success like a newborn foal.

I liked the line "When I close my eyes, my muse guides me on a journey I can feel,". Well done and glad to have you participate again!

If I tie an anchor round your neck and toss you to the sea, Would you be sad or just mad at me? If your journey home isn't all it should be, Rub the lamp and dream of me. Genuine feelings of glee this time of year, "Merry Christmas" is the phrase you'll hear. I have done the challenge but as you can tell, the poem makes no sense, oh well.

bwahahhaa, and yes, I put the tea down before I read this. J and I both loved it (I read it outloud to her).

Nicely done. Life is indeed worth the mess. The alternative is not so great.

"Buffalo" We remember, the fortunate A game at the Rockpile Summer in Deleware Park Wings at the Anchor Bar While we karaoke as Journey Warm memories of home We remember, the lost The mills and plants closed Homeless in a blizzard Shame at the Dream Center Where we beg for a cot Cold memories of home Queen City playing favorites Haves and have-nots White and black Genuine hope Undermined by greed Our Buffalo, our home

This was a unique direction taken, more a tribute to, well home, rather than a mental and less physical journey. And now I am craving chicken. heh. Well done!
