Got a Second Opinion!

Maybe I am still lucky to have found a new Doc, after a shocking incident with a Pulmonologist, last week (she wanted me to undergo tracheostomy).
This new Doc is also a Pulmonologist. He had a good look at my x-ray results as well as my labchem. He asked me questions which I did not hear from last week's Doc.
Then, he adviced me to stop drinking:
-coffee
-tea (iced tea)
-soda
-lemonade
-wine
-vinegar
And to stop eating:
-chocolates
-fatty or oily food
-peppermint
-food with chili
-tomatoes
-pomelo (& all citrus fruits)
And (in case I do), stop smoking.
When I asked him why, he said I have an acid reflux. Then, he prescribed Antaxid capsules for 3 weeks (to be taken 30 minutes before dinner). And, advised me never to lie in bed earlier than 2 to 3 hours after dinner.
So, it's no to tracheostomy?
Praise God!

Good for you! Sometimes, I think doctors are not looking after the welfare of their patients but are just looking to pad their bank accounts.

That's true some doctors are not doing their best.

And I think there is a sleeping position suitable for people who suffer from acid reflux. I think you have to sleep on your left side...

@KnehKnah And I don't know if it's true. I just read about it before. I think it has something to do with the position of our stomach.

Praise God, glad to see you. This is not the first time I heard stories like this one, at times I lose confidence on some medical practitioners seems like some people have become really materialistic.

Indeed! Thank you! Just like what you said, I even went to the extent of refusing seeing Doctors! Most of those I'd been to were so in a hurry checking up on me, simply scribbling capsules & tablets on prescription pads (& after taking 2 or more of those I almost lost my life!)!

It's always helpful to get second opinion. It's just an acid reflux. Hope you get better soon.

At least there are still some good quality doctors out there. Wait? No more lemonade? men I thought I had it worst. At least you don't need to have an operation.

It is always good to have a second opinion. You too could search on the Net for answers, sometimes.

It seems we always have to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion and sometimes, we need to RUN from the doctors telling us such things!
Hope things will be better now.

I'm so sorry that I missed this when you posted it, but I haven't been on the site as much as I used to be.
Thank goodness you got a second opinion and don't have to have that op. That's quite an extensive list of what you can't drink, seems like it just leaves water.
I hope that you are able to enjoy Christmas my friend, the best of luck to you. Mahal kita.

Yes, thank God, KnehKnah! (I was wondering how you were doing, so came looking for you. I haven't seen you on myLot for quite some time.)
So, are you feeling better now, after following the new doctor's instructions, hon? (I certainly hope so!)

tracheostomy i think is the procedure to help ease the pain you are feeling with your throat. i am just glad you won't have that, and i hope for your earliest recovery.
having a tracheostomy or tracheotomy will further increase your susceptibility to infection.

Oh my ! I lie down in bed about an hour after dinner . I might as well stop doing that and not eat dinner anymore to avoid doing that .
Though , is eating an apple at night considered dinner and should not lie down 2 to 3 hours after i have eaten it as my dinner ?
