It's Coming........

Christmas is soon upon us, and I am freaking out. I still have to buy gifts for my step-mom, fiancé's mother, and niece. I have to wash, vacuum pack and wrap the afghan I made for my mother. I have to finish the afghan I'm making for my dad, and make some potholders for my step-dad. I'm only half done wrapping the kids presents, and I still need to buy stocking stuffers. I haven't even considered Christmas baking yet. I don't know what I'm making for Christmas dinner. My mother is coming to town in two weeks....and I really need to clean. January can't come soon enough.

There are only three of us in this house my hubby, me and our cat Sid. I too need to clean up the house which is topsy turvy but at least no guests coming. I also have no idea what to make for Christmas dinner which we serve up late on Christmas Eve with just a bit of something on Christmas Day. One good thing is that we enjoy Christmas with no present exchange so that is one thing I don't have to worry about.

I tend to go overboard on Christmas for my kids. I also have this guilt thing if I don't get everybody something, and I'm terrible at picking adult presents, so there's anxiety, also. When my mom comes....I never feel like anything is good enough, and she will comment later about what is too messed up in my house. She doesn't mean anything by it. I think it's her version of adult parenting, but it's still nerve wracking.

@mommymonky to make the holidays merrier when my mom was alive and we lived in NYC I planned every Christmas around her and bought her all kind of presents that I knew would delight her so it was always a merry time and mom had nothing to complain about.
