My House Is a MESS

My house looks like a bomb hit it. This morning I started the wrapping process for Christmas. What an ordeal! I did most of my shopping online so I just kept piling up the boxes as they were delivered. My pile was neat and tidy, But, this morning I figured I'd better get busy with sorting through the gifts and getting rid of all the brown boxes they were delivered in cause tomorrow is recycling day and all that cardboard needs to go. What I managed to do was create a mess. I have empty boxes that need to be broken down for the recycling. The gifts are neatly piled but still need sorting for the person receiving them. My dining room table is covered with wrapping paper, scotch tape, tags and gift bags. Even the dogs are sitting here looking at me like "what the heck is this mess". Now I"m feeling overwhelmed and need to take a break from what I thought was going to be fun. At least I can pride myself on not procrastinating until next week when it's crunch time. Are you finished shopping? wrapping? etc

The shopping is done....the wrapping....I wrap as I go so it's rarely overwhelming. There are a couple of sewing projects to finish as well as some baking. I know how overwhelming the cardboard can be. At one time I saved the cardboard at the store until the storage room was full. Then I would spend (it seemed like hours) an afternoon breaking down and folding cardboard for the recycling. Eventually I learned to do it as it came in.

I was once that organized, in that I wrapped as I bought. Now it seems I'm to tired when I get home from work.

@beaniefanatic13 with grandchildren in and out, it's easier to wrap as I go.

@morleyhunt with nosy bodies coming in and out it was easier for me to leave everything in the boxes. I'm feeling overwhelmed but I know it will all get done. I was on a crusade to get the cardboard ready for recycling so it wouldn't be sitting here over the holidays

This time of year it's hard to keep a tidy house for everyone especially those (like you) with young children at home. I thought it would get easier now that I'm older but the grandchildren keep me just as busy

@Marilynda1225 there's always stuff to keep us busy and in my case, untidy! :-)

Now that you have it all sorted out, I would work on one pile at a time. The cardboard seems like it would be the easiest to start with. Then I would work on gifts, I always start with the big ones so that I can use smaller pieces of wrap to use on the smaller gifts. I'm sure that it's not as bad as it seems. I'm not finished with anything yet. I just wrapped the presents that I have to ship by tomorrow for them to make it in time. Since I can't seem to find the energy after work I brought those gifts to work with me and got them done. Once they are in the mail then that is one thing to scratch from my list. I will need to find time to wrap the presents I have at home, and will probably bring some each day to work until I'm finished. I still have a few things to get this weekend, but most of that is just gift certificates and stocking stuff. My son is the only one that I really have to shop for and I have no ideas as to what to get him. If ordering from Amazon I still have time, but anywhere else I'm fast running out of time.

Sounds like you have a good plan in mind for getting all your wrapping etc done. I have one gift I need to mail today and a few last minute gift cards to get. Amazon is always my "go to" place

I finished up today with getting the last of our shopping done, and when I got home I started to wrap. I did a few items and then realized that I couldn't find the package of tags. So, there is a pile in my dining room too, of wrapped gifts without tags on them! I'll pick up some tags later on this week and finish the gifts with the ribbons and put them under the tree.

All the time spent on wrapping with ribbons and tags and then in one fell swoop all that stuff is on the floor and ready for the trash. I don't put my gifts under the tree because the dogs are too nosy lol

I'm pretty much done. Your mess will be much less once the recycling has gone.

Recycling was my main concern as I didn't want all that cardboard here over the holidays

At least we have another whole week before the craziness hits full force. I have to remind myself to just take time to breathe. Hope you are taking care of yourself during this holiday rush

@Marilynda1225 I am doing my best to try to remain calm. I still have a week so I am hoping to be done everything by this time next week but time will tell.

We haven't gotten anything done here yet...but my home is a super big mess too with boxes everywhere from our move soon. I can barely walk through my house and it's driving me insane!

It's a crazy time of year to be moving but I know you're anxious to get into the new place. I don't know how you keep sane with everything going on....moving, homeschooling, young children, baby and a new baby on the way. I shouldn't complain about my little mess LOL

I have half bag type gifts and some that are just too big for a bag. It's the cardboard that I needed to get into the recycling so it wasn't sitting here over the holidays. You always sound so organized

Well Mr Scrooge I don't totally disagree with you. I know you are in favor of cash which is something I'm slowly getting into giving as my grandchildren get older. One day I'll be reminiscing about wrapping gifts I guess.
