Jekca Reminded Me. . .

Okay, so I have not done a tree the last few years. I intended to this year, but I have not. I saw a really neat tree where we bought our vehicle last week. This family does a lot of hunting. It has game trophies displayed, and "farmer" figurines that are adorable, looking like children dressed as farmers and ranchers. I looked at her tree, and thought she had a wide band of soft white ribbon around it. I saw little kid socks on various branches, and home made ornaments. A string of lights that looked like shotgun shells. I looked a little closer and I could see empty toilet paper tubes put over the ends of some branches then realized that the wide, soft, white ribbon was toilet paper. It actually looked nice. She only decorated with it from top to bottom in one strand. I did not comment on her tree, but I suppose she would probably call it a "red neck" tree. I thought of this in a kind of indirect way after seeing @Jekca 's tree. She has adorable owls on hers. I know how to make owls out of toilet paper tubes, and that took me to thinking about Stephanie's tree. I was not brave enough to sit in someone's home and say "let me take a picture" when they were totally strangers to me.

Interesting tree. We haven't decorated here for several years. We had a fake hot pink thing my daughter put up for a couple of years. When we did the Purge of 2014 we got rid of most of the decorations and the tree anyway.

I have various simple things to set out, but have not done that either. I do have a wooden tree with lights that just plugs in.

@GardenGerty .....We used to have a nativity scene and a church that lit up and played Christmas tunes. That was a long time ago.

I used to put my tree in a playpen to protect it from cats and small children.

Seems logical to me. I always wonder why people are so symbol driven anyway. I do hope every one has a merry Christmas though

I guess we invest a lot of ourselves into our symbols.

Hum, living in the south I imagine that kind of tree is probably something many of my neighbors might have LOL. I think tp belongs in the bathroom!

Me too, but this did fool me briefly. I know a lot of people decorate with burlap nowadays as well.
