New York Accent are hard to understand.

December 18, 2016 5:38pm CST
Been working for 3weeks now dealing with New Yorkers on the phone. Before I started working I was thinking..Nah!! New Yorkers will be easy to understand just like most states coz I've been working in a Call Center for more than 2 years now. But when I started taking calls and conversing with New Yorkers, I realize they actually speak differently. Their Accent are thick and they speak faster than I thought. The Blacks are hard to understand. I wanted to listen to Black New Yorkers talking everytime I get home but I realize Youtube doesn't have a lot of Black New Yorkers videos who talks like what I'm dealing with over the phone so it's kinda not easy to get myself so easily used to their accents. I just hope I will understand whatever they are talking about as fast as I could.

As a UK person I have no difficulty understanding any US accent. Be that from boston or georgia. I've no clue why you can't understand accents...I'd say it is your issue rather than theirs.

As a foreigner, I think that some UK accents are a lot more difficult to understand than US accents.

@Mike197602 I have usually no problem with American accents. I would not tell the same for people from Wales or Yorkshire.

there are some accents that are harder to understand than others...even if their language is english... P.S- I think the politically correct way to address them is African American.

And they tell you that you are the one with an accent.
