Do you get any extra time off work for the holidays?

Friday is my last day and then I am off until January 3rd. I am looking forward to my 10 days off. Our company closes between Christmas and New Years. We all save some of our vacations days so that we can do that. It is a nice little break at such a busy time of year.
So do you get any time off over the holidays?

Well I used to still go to work during the holidays. We get paid double. This year is different though since I have a different job, my holidays are free!!!
I'm loving it!

Oh good..I don't mind working if I am making double but I do prefer the paid time to stay home.

How nice it is for you to have 10 days off work. We don't get extra time off work for the holidays. Occasionally we will have one more extra day off work for the Chinese New Year. It is the biggest fetival here. And many people will have days off at that time and it means nothing for us to work anyway.

I am lucky I will get five days off. One thing I would really like to do is to have a good sleep but I doubt that will happen.

When I was a school teacher our vacation was tied to the children's holiday. The downside was that we could only planned to travel only at this time of the year. We couldn't take time off during the summer to travel.

My husband always got the week between Christmas and New Years off from work, I usually had a day at Christmas and a day at New Year.

I'm retired, but when I was working all I had off was either Christmas Day Or Boxing Day. I worked with animals so they still had to be cared for and exercised.
Nowadays most people (in normal jobs) don't seem to think it worth while going back to work until after New Year.
