I'm starting to write a novel.

I know some of you have experience with writing, would you like to know if you could give me some tips? I've already done a plot of the story (nothing I consider genius, but nevertheless, a story) and was researching sites with advice for amateur writers. I found some interesting, others not so much. Could any of you tell me how it worked for you? Thank you.

I don't write novels but know people who do. Write about what you know about or do lots of research to get facts right. I would write out a description of each major character. Get to know your characters, where they are from, ages, relationships, jobs, ambitions, dreams, anything relevant to your book. I think there are programs you can use to keep it all straight. Never tried them but some people use them. Good luck, hope you write the next blockbuster novel.

@Emilyteamo182 My biggest advice is to not copy anyone else's writing or writing style. Develop your own unique style, you are not everyone else. That is what people will remember about you when you sell your first book.

@akalinus That's exactly the point, I'm a bit unsure of my own style of writing. Not that it's very different from the others, but, anyway ... I do not think anyone likes his own work as much as he would like it if it were someone else's.

I had a dream to write long ago. I then realized I just don't have the patience for it really. I think you have taken some important steps to improve your knowledge first. I don't have much to offer but I wish you well in the endeavor.

I already wrote some things, but I usually stopped when I wrote about 250 pages. My ideas for novels are longer ..
