Well, I've ripped ideas off from @FourWalls before, so why not do so again? I'm talking about songs with "walk" (or variations) in the title. Her series was so good that I'm doing my own. #10 is "Walking Down Madison" by the late Kirsty MacColl. From Surrey, England, Kirsty MacColl began recording in 1979, and made music until her death in 2000. She was married to famous producer Steve Lillywhite, and according to Wikipedia, did a lot of television work on shows such as the BBC comedy French and Saunders. You might recognize that she was the guest vocalist on The Pogues' classic "Fairy Tale of New York." "Walking Down Madison" was a 1991 single from her album Electric Landlady. The tune was the idea of former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, who wanted to do a dance record, and sent MacColl a demo. The song did fairly well, peaking at #23 on the UK Singles chart and reaching #4 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. You may have seen the video on the MTV Sunday night alternative music show 120 Minutes. Alison Moyet has performed "Walking Down Madison" live, and Johnny Marr has released his own version.

MacColl never made much of a mark in the US. The song does have an 80s vibe.

It's too bad. She made some really good songs.
