give me drugs!

I spent an awful lot of time yesterday feeling a trifle woozy. This was mostly due to the out-of-date Tramadol I took to alleviate some intense pain my stupid wisdom tooth was giving me. Tramadol and me are not the best of buddies. He exists in our house purely as a leftover painkiller from Our Kidney Adventure, when he offered me a few days respite from the pain of being cut open and having hands poke about inside me. I actually have a fairly high pain threshold and rarely even take Paracetamol, so if I've succumbed to the temptations of Tramadol, one knows I must be feeling pretty poorly. He makes me ill. It's as if he's content to take away the pain on the condition that I spend a few hours feeling light-headed and nauseous. I pop him in my mouth and a few hours later I act as if I'm drunk, my words failing haphazardly out of my mouth and my head spinning round and round, like a record. Woozy, but no boozy. I needed his help again today, but he barely touched the pain and has left me with a raging headache and shaky fingers. He is a silly numpty. And now I'm simply exceptionally sleepy. Somewhere up North, Father Christmas is putting the finishing touches to his sleigh ready for tomorrow night's shenanigans and I'm feeling quite tempted to just sleep through till the Big Day itself. I shan't though; I have floors to hoover and biscuits to make. And so, to bed. To dream of wonderful things and to awaken with a healed head.

I sure hope you feel better. I hate taking pain killers, which can be problematic as I suffer from chronic pain, but I use the minimum I can and still function.

I'm usually a 'just get on and deal with it' kind of gal, but sometimes the need is too great.

@Poppylicious I understand. We must move on with life. As a dear friend tells me, "We smile and keep going, trying never to let them see how much we hurt."

I imagine they're quite addictive. It's a good job they're hardly taking the pain away ... it makes it harder to want more!

I have heard really bad things about Tramadol, I try to stay away from it. I had some leftover from a toothache/abcess and took one the other night for my muscle spasm in my back. It didn't even take the pain away, just made me super drowsy and drunk feeling. I couldn't even sleep, I was in and out. It was horrible.

Yep, that's the effect it had on me yesterday. I've taken some again today, but it has barely touched the pain. I feel like I want to take more, but know I shouldn't. *sigh*
