Cold Grey Carolina Mornings

Perfect days to enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee with a side treat of Butterscotch Clusters made by the kind & loving hands of my BFF. I watch for thin rays of dawn to shimmer through the dark grey clouds that hover over Coal Mountain. As a huge fan of the Sun - I like to keep track of dawn & dusk - it is going to be a real circadian experience to feel not only my body shift from a tropical climate with a steady division of day & night along 12 hours each, to a more temperate climate at the edge of winter. Just the temperature shift was enough to put me on the brink of catching a cold or flu. Its been a long time since my Winter Solstice day was less than 9 hours! Even through the fog of jet-lag, my body, my skin actually, feels the oncoming rays of sunshine - waking me in plenty of time to rise drowsily & go through the morning routine until my eyes are bright, my mind alert & my body ready to go go Go! Now that the jet-lag is wearing off - I'm falling back into my natural rhythm and it feels good - renewing my sense of purpose, reconnecting with lands I love, reunions with friends dear to my heart, and remembering who I really am. Those are the thoughts that dance around my mind as I eagerly await the dawn's warmth on my cheeks. Knowing who I am, feeling the changes my journey has wrought upon me, remaining resilient in my faith, renewing strength to move forward another day - this is my life in Carolina.

Now that's the way to welcome a new day! Glad your jet lag is lagging into the past. It can be brutal.

Thanks Valerie @just4him - the real tell will be if I can make it 2 years - expats that have been gone "too long" usually can't make it a year in the homelands without falling to wanderlust again. Sometimes - it's a matter of being pushed out of the nest - still lots of underemployment & low employment - so sad to see. However - a new year is ahead - this is a great time to start off the year with a positive Can Do attitude. ^_^
