We are at the halfway point in my Favorite "Walk" Songs series, an idea I "borrowed" from @FourWalls. Basically, it's a countdown of songs with the word "walk," or some variation. Who better to occupy the #5 spot than one of the all time great punk bands, Ramones, with "I don't Want to Walk Around with You."
Ramones formed in Forest Hills, New York, in 1974. They were part of the legendary CBGB scene that also spawned Blondie and Talking Heads. Think about it. That little nightclub produced three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bands in those three. Ramones also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. According to Wikipedia, Ramones played 2263 live shows from 1974 to 1996.
(Not so Fun Fact: According to Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain's book Please Kill Me, the Ramones couldn't Stand each other and did not speak to each other on the tour bus.)
From their 1976 Gold self titled debut, "I don't Want to Walk Around with You" was not a hit. It was released as the B-Side of "I Want to be Your Boyfriend." "I don't Want to Walk Around with You" was written by both Dee Dee and Tommy Ramone (Dee Dee was the band's chief lyricist.) Despite it's B-Side status, it remains a fan favorite to this day.
R.I.P. Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy. Thank you for the great music.
I don't wanna walk around with you I don't wanna walk around with you I don't wanna walk around with you So why you wanna walk around with me? I don't wanna ...

They needed to get a haircut and a real job. How can anyone not like The Ramones.

Big thumbs up.
As for them not liking one another, that could explain how they did 22 songs in an hour without talking....

You're welcome. It's probably not your cup of tea, though.

Yeah, if you weren't listening to punk, you would've missed this one for sure.

You said it all about the godfathers of American punk. I just wanna be sedated while attending rock n roll high school where I can beat on the brat with a baseball bat.
