Thoughts on bitcoin?

I was at one time considering buying into the whole bitcoin idea, but I'm not sure where the "value" is derived from the coin. I'm also not sure as to where to buy the coin in the first place. Any thoughts on this currency as I think it's to new to actually figure out at the moment.

@TheInvisibleMan @Akopinay, but what is the real value of bitcoin last I looked it was 200$ us currency per one bitcoin, never and still don't understand where bitcoin derives its value from I believe it to be a fake currency meaning someone made it up for their own personal gain

Bitcoin was very popular in the past. Some people even bought new computers to create bitcoins. But it seems it is less popular today. Perhaps not many websites support it. However, it seems today bitcoins are still very worthy.
