myLot isn't a dating site!

United States
December 27, 2016 2:02am CST
myLot is a discussion website, if you want to 'date', online date, attempt to flirt, whatever it is - then you're looking on the wrong site! Unless you potentially meet someone, click together & it works out - by all means good for you! Me - personally, I'm not interested & private messaging me is another thing, I will not respond. I pretty much ignore all messages, with the acceptation of some members with whom I know isn't a crazy stalker, annoying, and an actual human being! There are some members who I can actually have a full on conversation with that is enjoyable and endless and some where I just get to the point. Just recently, I had someone ask if I would exchange usernames / web chat on a chatting app with them. I don't have any interest in chatting with strangers. Anyhow, that's my rant of the evening!

MyLot has always tried to make sure that its members can feel that this is a safe, family-friendly site and it has made settings available so that people can protect themselves as much as possible from being harrassed and stalked. Unfortunately, there will always be a small number of people who misinterpret what the site is about and try to take advantage of the system. Many people will find this kind of abuse just annoying and stupid but some may feel genuinely threatened. It is worth bearing in mind that people who use the messaging system to make inappropriate suggestions and advances to you (which you may be able to brush off without more than just a mild irritation), are highly likely to be doing this to others who may feel less secure. Even if you, yourself, don't feel threatened and simply block these people, it is well worth reporting such incidents to Admin (@goaskalice) Only he can check whether the person is abusing the system and making a nuisance of himself (such people are usually male) to others. Please always bear in mind what effect such messages might have on those who may be weaker and less secure than you and take the time to let Admin know the username of anyone who is using the system inappropriately!

cool wording had to look it up @pgntwo profoundly wise person, esp. one famed for wisdom. 2. an experienced person respected for sound judgment. adj. 3. wise, judicious, or prudent: sage advice

MyLot has always tried..@owlwings What is MY Lot? Serious question. I know it is a website. I know two login names "my bugs" "ask alice" but I don't know who "represents" mylot? Also "family friendly site" not sure what that actually means? Is it official? I've look on the internet and found one site that defines what that is but mylot isn't listed there?
Find approved websites and destinations that support online safety of family members using the internet. The Original Family-Friendly Directory started in 1996.

i would second this thought. I feel the same way. I have had a handful of guys asking me the same thing...there is no option but to ignore them. A few of them I don't even see interacting in any discussion...they just want to chat on private messaging and get to friendly. I just cut to the chase and be clear with them.

I just ignore them since they're not worth speaking to :) And just because I commented on their one latest discussion doesn't mean I'm interested in them or want to be friends. It's weird how some people think!

@owlwings I agree with what you said somewhere else on this discussion. Some could brush it off as a mere annoyance whereas others may be put off coming on here so I would say if anyone gets unsolicited advances they should tell admin. BUT...if any girls want to make unsolicited advances to me I wouldn't mind

There are some incorrigible elements in this world, who just cannot be mended. These elements are found on every social networking site and wherever facility of private messaging is available, they shamelessly send messages to every member on the site (in a way misuse the facility). As our friend @owlwings has suggested that if you find that a mylotter is sending you PMs unnecessarily, you could immediately block him. Also, if you go to your settings, you could disable the option of receiving PMs from others.

It's usually only necessary to change the setting to "Only those I follow can message me" and, if you want to, block the user (which also stops them from following you). Even so, telling Admin does no harm. If the person is being a pest to others, he will be made to disappear in very short order!

@owlwings -Thanks for explaining. I agree with you that even if we block a particular user and we feel that he may do more harm, it would be better to report about such user to Admin.

1. Love is beautiful. If it comes to you ..irrespective of which site...be open to it...provided it makes sense. 2. myLot is not a dating site...so folks here are more reliable and you know their minds if not their faces and lower parts of their bodies. 3. Little bit of flirting never harmed anybody. It kinda helps some folks whose spirits are low feel lighter and rejuvenated..kinda. I give up about 4th to zillionth point...typing issues. What say @DaddyEvil, @TheHorse...

WOW! Ranting just because someone ask for you to exchange usernames? Somehow, I am sure there is MUCH more to this story, infatuatedbby! (Did you catch @vandana7 looking at me with friendship shining from her eyes and mistake it for something else? Maybe it was someone else you saw looking at me with love in their eyes, like @moffittjc? You know he has a thing for me, right? LMAO!) I am glad I never got on your bad side by calling you 'hon'! (I do know I have called you that, but I think I ask if it would be okay, first. I try to, at least.) I also guess this is not the time to tell you I come from a different solar system, is it?
